With an infection fatality rate somewhere between 0.26% (CDC lower bound) and 1% (Johns Hopkins upper likely), you’re talking about somewhere between 600,000 and 2,310,000 dead Americans. Considering we’re at about 130,000 deaths in right now, you’re talking about a half million to two million additional deaths. All of which are unnecessary if we get a safe and effective vaccine.

Your fatality percentages are wildly out of whack and long ago discredited. There are no current forecasts of 600k to 2.3M dead from C19, even as states & counties reopen.
Granted, more cases are appearing, because there is much more testing, and low risk groups (young, healthy) are intermingling and becoming infected, with mild or no symptoms. Children are virtually immune. And thankfully, hospitalization and death rates are holding constant, with hospital stays cut in half. We now know how to detect & treat. Who must be protected are older, less healthy adults.
Yes, vaccine is best, and it looks promising for a number of candidates. However, the country cannot remain in lockdown. Perhaps you can, but most cannot.
