Some GOP operatives are wondering if the president could drop out of the presidential race if his poll numbers don't improve.
A stretch of lackluster polling for President Trump has some Republican operatives nervous about the president’s reelection prospects in November – with some even floating the possibility for the first time that Trump could drop out if his poll numbers don’t rebound.
“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one GOP operative who asked to remain anonymous told Fox News.
Trump’s poll numbers in recent weeks have trended downward amid criticism over his administration’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic and the White House response to the protests and riots following the death of George Floyd in late May while in Minneapolis police custody.
A recent Fox News poll had the president trailing Democrat Joe Biden by 12 points, while a RealClearPolitics average of polls had Trump down almost 10 points to the former vice president. Biden also was leading Trump in many key battleground states, and polls from Republican strongholds such as Texas had Trump and Biden neck-and-neck.

Over on FOX, they headline that “certain” GOP Operatives are wondering if Trump will drop out due to bad polling. LOL. How lame. Of course, no comment box, because even FOX knows that even the average reader would flame them for such stupidity. But, it get the clicks and that’s all that matters. SMH. And everyone wants to know why the news sucks so bad...
Gee, maybe somebody should advise the Trump campaign to pay for their own polling.

Yes, he’s got to take steps. I think Barr has been doing good stuff by siccing the DOJ on these rioters and anarchists, but Trump has got to come out and Take credit for this and tell us the way forward. People are very scared and very angry and he’s got to make it clear that he’s in control and has got a way forward for the country. Be hopeful and positive, angry within reason, but not personal...it’s not about him, it’s about the future of our country.

I think there is a very real possibility you may see a bunch of GOP Congresspeople declare they won’t support Trump’s re-election. They certainly don’t seem to be coalescning behind him at the time he needs them the most.

Still applies. Don’t get me wrong. I believe Trump is behind Biden 4 or 5 points but not these garbage polls of a 10-12 point deficit. The problem Biden has is that his support is a mile wide but an inch deep. Trump can and will exploit this.
