Some GOP operatives are wondering if the president could drop out of the presidential race if his poll numbers don't improve.
A stretch of lackluster polling for President Trump has some Republican operatives nervous about the president’s reelection prospects in November – with some even floating the possibility for the first time that Trump could drop out if his poll numbers don’t rebound.
“It’s too early, but if the polls continue to worsen, you can see a scenario where he drops out,” one GOP operative who asked to remain anonymous told Fox News.
Trump’s poll numbers in recent weeks have trended downward amid criticism over his administration’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic and the White House response to the protests and riots following the death of George Floyd in late May while in Minneapolis police custody.
A recent Fox News poll had the president trailing Democrat Joe Biden by 12 points, while a RealClearPolitics average of polls had Trump down almost 10 points to the former vice president. Biden also was leading Trump in many key battleground states, and polls from Republican strongholds such as Texas had Trump and Biden neck-and-neck.

Trump hasn’t done a good job of tying the violence, arson, looting & rioting to Biden and the Dems. He needs to consistently make the argument that it is their plan for America and their party platform. If you don’t define them, they get to define you at will and with no end.
On the other hand, the rest of the GOP has done even worse at getting that message across - and, in fact, seem to not want to make the point at all.

They talked about his dropping out in October, 2016, after that tape came out. They are trying it early this year. Does anyone really think that the American people will elect Biden, who has trouble figuring out what day it is?
Yep, he is polling so terrible among Republicans, they hardly showed up to vote for his nomination and the paltry record audience for a Saturday on fox. And dont get me started with his kept promises.
If he’s losing why bother dropping out? Its not like they could replace him with someone who could win.
