In reality, the dog cage was probably the safest place for the kid.

How about putting all three of them in the same dog cage for say, 10 years?
My grandkids have a house full of toys to play with. Guess what they like to play in the most.

God, help that child, not just now but every moment forward.

Seems like the mouse problem will go away if given time — and 8 snakes.

Scumbucket FIL was a Florida felon, possibly on the run it sounds like. With an eighty two yer old senior, you would think there may be also elder abuse, but it looks like it’s not the case here.
SOB had the money to afford a private arsenal, but can’t bother to feed or take care of a child.
Absolutely disgusting, but I’d suggest holding the bulk of your outrage for when these monsters put forth their defense for caging a child.
The dog crate?
Looking at the picture, the crate might have been the best place for the kid to be ... it’s a BIG crate and plenty of toys in there. Animals all over the place, dogs, chickens, cats, snakes, mice, a gecko and a pheasant (???) Okay, the bugs and the pee smell isn’t good, but Mom, Dad, & Gran-pa look quite smelly themselves.
