You can pretend that masks don't work, but they do, although not perfect.
They do work - the N95 variety if used perfectly. The masks that most people wear don't work at all. In fact, they are contaminated almost immediately after someone puts them on. It is debatable whether they do more harm than good.

It is debatable whether they do more harm than good. Based on people touching their faces more because of the mask? That's user error, not evidence that masks are harmful.
