On June 20, 2020, Washington Governor Jay Inslee held a press conference claiming that Yakima was being overwhelmed by the corona virus. Given that in the past, Inslee claimed 2 million people would be killed in the US by the corona virus – and that hospitals in Washington state would be overwhelmed by the corona virus, it is amazing to me that anyone still believes anything this guy says. I walk for 45 minutes every morning on the highway shoulder in front of my farm and have literally had people like you stop and tell me the county requires masks.

I'll tell you the same I told others. I could care less whether you wear a mask or not. It is no concern of mine. Nor would it be if you were a few feet away from me in a store or anywhere else. The reason I say masks work is simple: because they seem to work. Not 100%, not appropriate for some people, etc. I am arguing for facts here, not arguing to force you to do it.

The main problem is that the Mayor of Selah (Inslee’s original home district) had the audacity to make a proclamation that the Selah City Police would not be citing citizens or businesses in Selah for not following Inslee’s mandates. She defied him, so all of Yakima county must suffer even though the outbreaks are almost exclusive to migrant workers and their families.

Benton County (Clint Didier) also defied the Governor, so they must be punished!

Yakima, Benton, and Franklin counties all have very high migrant populations, with some towns being 95% Hispanic (Wapato, Toppenish, Sunnyside, Pasco). Either Inslee is racist against Hispanics, or this is political retribution.

And I like the scientific proof you provide like ".... they seem to work....". That is about as unfactual and unscientific as you can get.

And finally, at what point does wearing a mask become useless and pointless? When the government tells you it's okay?

Or when clear thinking Americans decide they have had enough of this big mommy and daddy government nonsense?

All over the US. The riots and protests started in late May and early June. It takes two weeks to show any signs and testing has increased to the point that a high probability of detection now exists. I suspect that millions more have been infected but have never shown any symptoms or illness at all. Just like the flu affects many millions every year that don’t show up in hospitals. So, yes, even in south-central WA are Covid spikes affected by the mass movement of these protests. In my opinion. I told my wife when we watched the protests that the spike should occur in mid to late June. And so it is.

Did you go to that salon wearing a mask? If not, then your test result is irrelevant. First, as I've explained already, there is no such thing as proof, of anything. There is only evidence for and against. Evidence for masks comes from 46 negative tests out of 46. That makes it about 99.9% likely that nobody out of the 140 exposed got infected.

Evidence from the lack of masks comes from the church choir practice. No symptoms, no fever, no touching, enforced distancing, large indoor space and no masks. About 80-90% of the choir got it from one or more asymptomatic cases.

They are called Migrant Workers, Grew up with them, worked side by side with them, some of my best friends and going on almost 60 years, I still am in touch with them (FACEBOOK etc) we picked together, went to school together, served in the Military together.

It is a seasonal Migration that has happened since the 1800’s

Agriculture is not only Seasonal it happens at a different schedule ... Example ... We have very expensive Combines that start in South TX and just move North as they complete each field, they finish in the Northern Latitudes (Canada) dismantle the Combines and ship them back to South Texas and Prepare/Repair them for the next season and do it all over again.
Migrants Workers are no different ... It is the Politics/Politicians that are scamming the system, the Migrants are being used as Pawns... They want to go home for the Winter and return when the season starts again.
Then there is the whole Mexican Mafia/Narco angle ... it is scary for them to go home sometimes (have you been there lately?) but they have Wives and Children back home.
There is a way to do this but Mexico has to do it’s part.
Trump is the Man that can do/fix this. I think We are on the right track. Mexico and US relations are much better than most are led to believe ... unless we get Biden’s VP as our next President (that will suck many many times worse)

First of all, science does not permit "proof" of anything, only evidence for and evidence against.

One compelling piece of evidence for spread without masks, with no touching, greater than six foot spacing and a large indoor space is the church choir event.

Like I said, no proof is possible or required in science, only the weight of evidence. That's a non-trivial amount of protection. Those are surgical masks, not N95. Also that's only measuring one-way spread to the mask wearer, not from another mask wearer. Nope, part of the same problem; over reaction. You didn't answer my question. In a bad flu year, are you going to advocate doing what governments across the country have done through this mess? If so, have you done so in the past? If not, why is it so important now and in the future?

It was prudent when you could extrapolate a 10% mortality rate. Now, with the numbers available, and a very questionable mortality rate of .6% it just doesn't make sense, unless it's not about health but about control.
