500,000 people created accounts on the social media platform Parler after Twitter banned two conservative accounts Tuesday.
Parlers user base increased by 50% this week, bringing the total number of users to over 1.5 million, Mediaite reported Thursday. (RELATED: Jennifer Lawrence Finally Joins Twitter For This One Reason)
The surge comes after Twitter permanently banned the account of Carpe Donktum, and locked the account of The National Pulse Editor-In-Chief Raheem Kassam. Both accounts, which were locked Tuesday, have over 200,000 followers.
Conservatives, who were already frustrated with Twitter for what they say is arbitrary and unfair banning of right-wing accounts, flocked to Parler after the two accounts were suspended. Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz both joined the platform.

To be clear, I want it to succeed. We need an alternative.
I certainly believe in free speech. However, the trolls appear to have started and it will only get worse. They will dirty it up so the MSM can say Parler is a “racist site”. That is what they do if their control is threatened.
It won’t be true of course, but when has the MSM cared about truth in the era of Trump?
Oh you can bet Leftists will infiltrate with that intention in mind.
Really, it’s why these things can never work.
The death match is against sin. I'm constantly striving to maintain a healthy peaceful attitude...which is impossible to do if I spent all my time on twitter. I get all the positivity I need from freerepublic for the most part. Life's too short to constantly waste time fighting about things that in the long run are just not that important.
I could see it perhaps helping to avoid bots, and Leftists posing as racists from getting in.
All I get is a faint gray screen with a curly “P” in the middle.
No one asked you to spend ANY of your time on Twitter. The idea is to help build momentum for a competitor to Twitter by at least expanding its membership, if not content. The war of ideas does matter. Doing something about the silencing of our speech IS important. Its a sin to let evil prevail. Doing nothing is all it takes.
I understand! Most conservatives in Parler know not to respond to liberal trolls and will block them. I think they might go away if they have nobody to harass. :-) If they get banned they will just say that Parler doesn’t practice what they preach. It will be a battle for sure! What they usually do is force the platform that hosts the site to remove the site. That’s what they did to GAB. I think Parler has taken precautions against that.
If your read though their fax then you will find that at least in some cases they require a scan of your drivers license as well.

An excellent and successful strategy developed by Felix Dzerzhinsky that saved the communist revolution...
A strategy that communists, worldwide, have successfully used ever since with very few failures...
A strategy that has currently put the communists in a very strong position to end freedom & capitalism in the U.S. permanently...
The last nail can be driven into the coffin on November 3... The communists are frothing at their mouths in anticipation... The GOP is contemplating it's navel...
I see a lot of people griping over having to provide a phone number to Parler for authentication, but hopefully doing so will make it harder to be a non-stop disgusting troll.
I see that too but it’s the only way to secure your login and keep bots out. I did it and have had NO problem. If you don’t login for a while or forget your login information they text a code to you. If the account gets locked due to somebody trying to hack it you can verify it’s you by them sending the code to your phone. A lot of places on the web do that now. My health insurance company does it, Ebay does it, Amazon does it, PayPal does it, and the list goes on. That’s really not a good excuse in my book. Knowing these places can verify that I am me makes me feel safer, not less safe.
What’s a CF?
Gotcha. Thanks!

Sorry, I meant Eric.
signing up REQUIRES giv8ng your cell number so they can verify you with a text. No. Way.

You can give your home phone too, if you have one. They call with an automated message with a code.
I only keep my home phone as a spam screening machine anyway.
It’s been written;
“When it’s time to bury your guns, it’s time to dig them up”
In that light, there comes a time to stand up, and be counted. Looking at the brave out there on social media who are on the front lines, using their real names and taking heat is inspiring and to a good degree while our anonymity hides us, it also deters the very community we desire to build. We desire to be a unified force, yet hide behind fake user names.
How many here at FR actually know the real full names of other freepers? How many face ro face meetings have any of us had with other freepers? Back in the day, FR bagd many active chapters with get togethers for active protest and rallys, shooting events, dinners and such. Over time, these numbers are less and less.
So I know there will be a reply; “you first SW! Post your real name here”. This is a more than reasonable demand. I have 8 months to retire, then no longer will need my security clearance. At that time I’ll weigh the decision to ask JimRob if he can change my user name to my real name and reset my real sign on date back to November 2000.
Until then and four months before the election, I think that somehow, Somme way, we freepers must renew our face to face interactions, build tighter community and develop plans to get on the street again to actively be involved in this election cycle. Maybe it’s standing on a sidewalk with flags, maybe it’s as poll watchers, maybe it’s just meeting others, to develop community.
If this election gets ugly, it is this community that we build which will help us survive. How do we build community better here? How to we get of our sofa and interact in real life? Ideas are welcome.
I wonder how many freepers have become introverted because of social media, which, to many, has replaced real life social interaction.
My thoughts only

It is an Army or Marines Corps expression for Cluster F.
Excellent points, SheepWhisperer. Many local FReepers know me, even if they don’t know my full name. I used to attend numerous local FReeps and a couple of my comments are famous.
(A bunch of radicals come waltzing down teh street hollering, “1,2,3,4. We don’t want your racist war.” I looked up the line of FReepers and said, “Here come the smart ones; they can count to 4.” A couple of them wantged to kill me on the spot.)
We need to activagte our chapters again.
