By John Deike and Rachel Vadaj | June 25, 2020 at 4:36 AM EDT - Updated June 25 at 4:36 AM LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WOIO) - Vice President Mike Pence will visit the Youngstown area on Thursday to attend the unveiling of Lordstown Motors new Endurance electric pickup truck.
Pence, now on the campaign trail with November quickly approaching, is expected to deliver remarks, and afterward, meet with law enforcement and community leaders.
The closing of the longstanding GM plant, and its 1,400-plus layoffs, drew ire from both sides of the aisle with President Donald Trump and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) each criticizing the closure and calling for new jobs in the small Ohio auto town.
The unveiling will begin at noon., and will also include a speech from Cleveland businessman and Lordstown Motors CEO Steve Burns.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette and other government officials will also be in attendance.
Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted toured the plant on Wednesday.

Hope it isn’t a white truck.

Electric pickup truck?
As if Youngstown needed one more joke at it’s expense.

250 mile range is pretty good. Says it will tow 7k lbs. I like the idea of in-hub motors drive. Styling is weak.

Believe it or not we are running out of oil. The shale boom helped us but that’s about over. We need more nuclear plants, preferably thorium. I dont see any othet real alternative. This civilization is at risk of coming to a grinding stop.

I used to live just outside of Flint, Michigan. For years Flint and Youngstown have had this back-and-forth going over who can come up with the more ridiculous "it's gonna save us" meme. Remember the guy from the Michael Moore movie with the lint rollers?

priced just north of $50,000.Life keeps getting ridiculously expensive and wages are flat due to 30 years of unbridled immigration. This will not end well.

Never saw Roger and Me.
I was living there when it came out and I'd never heard of Moore, so I saw it out of curiosity. It had it's entertaining moments. Perhaps the worst was Flint native Bob Eubanks telling a joke on camera that was at once rude, crude and anti-Semitic.
