Record-breaking Coronavirus hospitalizations 'overwhelm' Arizona, Texas as governors struggle to contain surge

Coronavirus hospitalizations in Arizona and Texas have hit record numbers as cases continue to surge in states in the South and the West, overwhelming medical professionals.

Arizona reported a record high of 3,591 new cases Tuesday, with nearly 60,000 known cases in the state overall. The swell in cases came as President Donald Trump held a rally at a Phoenix megachurch Tuesday.

There was a surge in the number of inpatient beds occupied by positive or suspected COVID-19 patients, with 2,136 beds occupied, compared to 1,992 Sunday, according to data from the state's Department of Health Services.

Meanwhile, 84 percent of intensive care unit beds were in use at Arizona hospitals and 83 percent of inpatient beds were in use as of Monday, according to the data.

"Each day I've been going into work over the last month is worse, and what I mean by worse is ... just overwhelmed with COVID patients," said Dr. Frank LoVecchio, who works in several Arizona hospitals in emergency medicine and public health.

LoVecchio, who works with the Banner Health, the Valleywise Health and the Abrazo Health systems in Arizona, said hospitals have been very good about getting everyone personal protective equipment, or PPE, and offering counseling help lines for providers. Hospitals had been doing the best they could, he said, converting space to handle the increase in COVID patients.

But with the rush, medical staff were becoming exhausted.

"They complain of exhaustion — physical, mental — many times they're dehydrated and tired," he said. "I think back to like seven, eight months ago, one of our big concerns was nurses, doctors stay hydrated, make sure you get snacks, sleep well, take your breaks. That stuff is out the window."

All this reporting -- all of this fake or exaggerated "news" -- is designed for one thing only ... and it's not "public health" or the "Chinese flu" or anything else for that matter. Its primary purpose -- its only purpose is to slow down then stop America's economic recovery and to maintain an elevated level of fear, distrust, anger and powerlessness among the gullible and easily frightened American people up to the November election.

That's it! That's what this is all about. That's what all of this has been about since 2016.

The Democrat/Left simply cannot "allow" the American people to re-elect Trump or all is lost to them. They will do whatever it takes to stop Trump ... even if it means the destruction of our economy, the unraveling of our society and the deaths of millions around the world.

The evil of the Democrats/Leftists in America is not some mysterious hidden force. Oh, no; the Democrat/Left evil is as bright as the noonday sun. It blinds those who have the resources, the skills and, most importantly, the courage to fight it ... and it paralyzes the timid souls who remain frightened and who acquiesce to every demand -- no matter how ridiculous or destructive -- made by these vile evildoers: the powerful enemy within America.

A "concerted effort" -- an "awakening" of patriotic Americans -- is not going to be enough to stop this evil. We have arrived at the point where only force will stop this formidible enemy.

This means we will have to continue to wear face coverings because the virus is still amongst us.

And so, it would be against all protocol to have people vote in person.

Therefore, we must vote by mail-in ballot this fall.

That’s what is being played out here.

Personally I’m more concerned about ICU bed utilization. Fewer deaths is wonderful news but increased numbers of people in the hospital for weeks undergoing extremely expensive ICU care and that care being paid for largely by Medicare is going to even further bankrupt us. Current median cost to treat a hospitalized coronavirus patient who recovers is $30,000 nationally

Are they hospitalized FOR WuFlu or WITH WuFlu...?

If you're going in for an elective procedure they won't admit you if you test positive.

“ This is why PDJT needs to end the Emergency and cut off the bonus money.”

The media and Dem politicians have their deceitful talking points well-rehearsed.

I wish Trump were countering with the FACTS in a clear, understandable way. He’s not. No message discipline - not even now when it’s most needed

Trump is not giving us the leadership we need right now. He’s not giving Americans the truth to counter the media’s lies and distortions on covid “surge” in “cases”. Too lazy? Too intellectually disorganized? Too distracted?

If Trump loses in Nov we all lose - but he’ll be to blame

People are going in for elective procedures and the staff is listing them as CV.

BS is right.

They won't admit you for an elective procedure if you test positive.

Because they get $36,000 more per “coronavirus” hospitalization and the hospitals are seriously hurting now. Trump has got to end that emergency order and all the money that goes with it...and see how fast this stuff will go away.

“These people scoffed at others that choose to wear masks.”

Masks that aren’t an airtight seal, and have mesh much too large to stop inflow and outflow of the virus. People drag them up, down and off and on constantly without washing them or their hands.

They are the “I’m so good masks” that do little good and perhaps are worse than nothing.

But here is what they are good for: Any place that requires or request mask use is less safe than places that don’t. Otherwise no masks would be in use. So avoid all places where masks are worn except for acquiring essential needs.

Simple common sense.

Yeah, what worries me about current situation up north is that many will move down here and bring theirr dumb politics with them. Bringing high tech jobs from Califonication here sounds good economically but one has to wonder.

AC=dry air. Which means easy transmission. Plus it’s blowing around the building, duct work, etc.

Cool air gets returned and stays cool...virus multiplies vs. winter time part of the air returned gets heated hot enough to likely kill off some of the virus.

Bottom line is fresh air is your best friend.

The current data on the biggest increases of coronavirus cases comes from the administrations of three Republican governors: DeSantis in Florida, Abbott in Texas and Ducey in Arizona plus Democrat Newsom in California.
For example, from an hour ago: “Gov. Greg Abbott says Texas is facing ‘massive’ COVID-19 outbreak” https://abc13.com/coronavirus-covid-19-covid-greg-abbott/6264929/

I am also guessing that there is some efforts among hospitals and medical staff to extend the stay of some an extra day or 2 in the ICU then an extra day or 2 in the hospital, because it pads the numbers to help support the liberal agenda. If each hospital just did that with a few of the patients labeled as COVID, the statistics would be fairly skewed overall.

You are right. It is a concern. I also have to wonder if ICU admissions have seen an increase due to delays in treating Non Covid cases.

It is not just the outright payments that are a fiscal time bomb. We will probably see an increase in SSDI claims from younger persons who had a severe course and have been left with long term or life long disabling conditions such as severe lung damage.

Well I can completely understand that given how much they lie about just about everything - but the Left also lies about stuff that is true. While it is true they will exploit even a true story to lie and blame it on Trump / Republicans - that doesn’t mean it isn’t actually happening. There are stories from multiple sources that in some places in Texas they are now having to admit adult COVID19 patients into Children’s hospitals as the others are at capacity and can handle no more. Is that not actually happening? Even if the books are being cooked on the claimed diagnosis as you claim, that is not a normal occurrence for hospitals to be this overwhelmed...so if it isn’t COVID19 causing it, what is it?

Yes indeed. You are correct. After three months, the medical profession is doing a much better job of keeping people alive but that doesn’t mean that they won’t suffer permanent disability.
