President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that he has “authorized” law enforcement officials to arrest anyone attempting to destroy historic statues on federal property.
The President’s declaration comes hours after radical leftists attempted to tear down a statue of Andrew Jackson which stands in full view of the White House.
Trump cited the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, which addresses the destruction of statues commemorating those who have served in America’s armed forces.

The law has been on the books, why should it take a Presidential directive for Law Enforcement to simply do their job?
So, it was legal to destroy statues until now?
Because they were choosing not to. Probably because people are afraid of being called racists.
I understand that’s retroactive to any during these protests.
How many statues and monuments are located on Federal property outside Washington D.C.?
Why did that take Presidential authorization? That seems like it should be automatic.

You know why I think that destruction was allowed to happen in DC? Every single job in any museum, park, Arlington, government building is all staffed by all blacks.
No - a law exists and he is now telling autjhorities to enforce and use it...the governors and mayors should hav ebeen stopping it...but this law is Federal and applies to federal jurisdictions - not most cities.

Authorization is needed? Why? Why does anyone need to be told to stop children and anarchists from destroying the icons the majority of us love?
