A group of Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives urged President Donald Trump on Tuesday to reconsider his decision to cut the number of U.S. troops in Germany, saying their presence is the backbone of NATOs deterrent against Russian aggression.
The six lawmakers led by House Foreign Affairs Committee senior Republican Michael McCaul said in a letter that the U.S. military footprint in Germany served Washingtons strategic interests beyond Europe and into the Middle East and Africa, which have seen the growing influence of Russia and China. The lawmakers also warned that Moscow and Beijing sought to sow divisions between the United States and its allies, and said they were troubled to see that many U.S. allies had not been consulted on the plans to reduce U.S. troop numbers in Germany.

No more US taxpayer backbones used in the support of Euro defense - let their taxpayers pay for it.
That was the agreement, of course, which they were and are utterly delinquent on.
What a ridiculous lie.
Since Herr Merkel halted nuke power plants, Germany now gets 85% of ALL fuel from Russia.
Putin does not have to fire a shot to cripple Germany. All he'd have to do is turn of the spigot. This isn't our problem.
If the Europeans can’t defend themselves by this juncture, perhaps they’d better start learning Russian.
So, who are the “group of Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives”?
The Germans are a bigger problem for America than the Russians.
Kickbacks being cut back.
RINO Swampies hardest hit!
These House puppets are just doing the bidding of their defense industry donors.
You, citizen, don’t count for a damn, because representation has its price, and you didn’t donate enough, if anything at all, to the “honorable” congressman.
Surely Frau Merkel can replace the 9,500 from among the ranks of the hundreds of thousands of military-age Muslim men she invited to march into Europe.
By now, those young men are no doubt well-integrated productive members of society who share German and European values, and can relied upon to defend them under arms.
Shouldn’t Republican lawmakers go home and deal with the anarchy in their states?
Should also dramatically reduce troops in Japan and South Korea. Let them replace troops with drones, robots, missiles.
Now that covid attack has been proved cheap and successful look for more attacks from these nations of evil. US troops are no deterrent to viral attacks.
Along with McCaul, the letter is signed by Reps. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, Ann Wagner of Missouri; Joe Wilson of South Carolina, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, and John Curtis of Utah.
The Germans can’t field one tank brigade! For example: “... half of the Bundeswehrs tank fleet is unfit for service. Only 95 out of 244 Leopard 2 main battle tanks were said to be combat-ready, while the remaining tanks were either disarmed or lacked critical spare parts. ..”
If that’s the level of effort they want to make, why should we be there?
Any threat of a Russian invasion would be detected long before troops were needed. The logistics of developing an attack force for an invasion would be visible for months from out satellites.
Their definition of defending themselves is expansionist imperialism. It’s what the EU wants. Better to help individual countries there instead of this continent-spanning empire that was founded on anti-Americanism.
That’s a feint. Of course, in the short term it’s meant to try to induce us to overextend our own military means.
Backbenchers that no one knows don’t carry much weight by signing a letter written by lobbyists.
(Is that to cynical? I don’t care.)
Exactly. Pull them ALL out of Germany.
Lobbyist whores out themselves .
Follow the money .
