President Trump said he has authorized federal law enforcement to arrest those caught vandalizing memorials and charge them under the Veterans' Memorial Preservation and Recognition Act.

"I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent," the president tweeted Tuesday morning.

Do you think law enforcement needs to be told by the President to do it’s job?

Yes!
Since they are listening to the liberal mayors.

Great idea. Any city getting any federal funding gets their monuments put under federal jurisdiction. Then put them all away on federal charges.

1. It isn’t up to the feds to uphold state laws; and

2. There is an old saying: when your enemy is harming himself, don’t stop him from continuing.

Trump is a businessman from an industry that requires a long-term time horizon, i.e. he doesn’t go to the bathroom without a plan. I am sure that he has done this according to plan - part of which was to wait until these animals started tearing down statues in DC, which by definition belongs to the federal government. Have patience.

I think you nailed it right there.

The low-information voters must be made to SEE.

Simply explaining matters to them often isn’t enough.

Sad, but that’s where we’re at in this media-saturated culture.

Not one single solitary bit. Are you or were you ever in law enforcement? I was.

Are you under the impression that everyone in law enforcement is opposed to BLM?

Not “everyone “....but majority would be my impression. I’ll bet the non officer types is where BLM supporters would be?

I have asked that question in my small town and all I got was “it can’t happen here”? It sure looks to me like it is heading our way....You’re 100% correct.

Where I live, in a small town east of Atlanta, we can’t have our 4th of July celebration because of the Corona, but they sure as heck can have protest marches. Now, some folks want to have a “Back The Blue” gathering in the very same square and are getting push back from the city council. Makes me wonder how the city council hasn’t been recalled yet, actually.

But, it sure does have the potential for things to happen elsewhere.

I can only come up with one thing that might stop it or slow it down. I was in law enforcement years ago. I was assigned to a unit that went after folks with felony warrants....murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault. The very large majority of the time the fugitives didn’t not travel far. And even if they did run to another state, possibly staying with relatives or something, they soon came back. Leaving the neighborhood and city they grew up in wasn’t something easy for them to do. So, maybe/hopefully, there’s a feeling that if they go into the unknown, they may not be prepared for what may come there way. In Atlanta, gun ownership isn’t that much of a thing. Where I live, if you don’t have them you’re the odd-man out, IDK.

You are correct in that the majority aren’t down with the BLM thing.

But, it’d probably surprise you with how many are. They may agree with the tactics and some of the verbiage from BLM, but they for darned sure agree with their(alleged) ideology. And I think it’s even more true today than when I was there. The old school guys didn’t give a crap who you were or what you looked like. This new generation of cops have come up with all the leftists teachers and professors.

Time to go to war!!! Those who burned one statue could be charged with local/state and/or federal arson acts. After the first 10-15 get up to 10 years in jail, the passion for matches will subside.

Next, beanbag guns at 10 paces. Aim for the nuts. More rioters will be going home to mommy’s basement to join pajama boy and Joe Biden.

Love the old saying “The full force of the law”.

Having worked with DOJ on a major organized crime prosecution only to have Clinton and AG Reno (and Hillary) quash the indictments, I want blood, and I want it now (in the courts but some spilled in the streets is just as good a sentence because our courts are so damned unreliable in terms of bringing criminals to justice).

Time for patriotic Americans and decent police to reclaim the streets, parks and statues back for our country.

There are national parks which are federal land and some contain statues that have already been defaced.

Dig and likely find state jurisdiction over such land even if technically with title to the federal government.

Often federal lands are controlled by state law enforcement. US Marshals are deputized and dispatched on a case by case basis. Federal authorities will in general first let state enforcement act and join only when more enforcement is needed.

No jury in DC will convict them and if they are convicted, they will be pardoned.
