PHOENIX — Coronavirus pandemic or not, an investment advisory company is leaving the cultural unrest in Seattle and moving its headquarters to Phoenix’s Camelback Corridor.
” … The unrest that has taken place in the city of Seattle … there is really is not a downtown business community today,” Smead Capital Management, President and CEO Cole Smead told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
Smead said that although taxes in Seattle are lower, candidate recruitment is harder and the cost of living within the city is more expensive than Phoenix.
“We’re hearing rumors of 40-story buildings that will be only 20-percent occupied by October,” Smead said.
“My biggest concern for Seattle was what the business community is going to come back to, and what kind of businesses are going to come back for customers.”

Amazon, the most woke company on Earth... are slowly moving their operations to the eastside suburbs - they’ll continue to hold the valuable real estate in the city of course.
I am old enough to remember back in the seventies when Seattle was hard-hit by set backs at Boeing (the SST program was cancelled), and shipping and lumber were hard hit too. The joke was ‘will the last person leaving Seattle please turn out the lights?’ Now Seattle is in for a repeat, but totally self-inflicted.
Progressivism is like that parasitic bug that causes yellow shit storms ... once it gets into the water and soon lots of people have it.
And now they are talking about taking down CHAZ. Weird how that works. A billion dollar company says they are leaving and now they want to enforce the law.

I have a friend who lives in a very affluent area near the Common. They have armed guards by the door of their condominium. Do you know what it costs to have two armed guards at your door?

So what would be wrong with Smead moving completely out of Seattle and setting up HQ in one of better suburbs of Seattle?
It sends the message that they like Washington State but that Seattle is a lost cause. By staying in that area, it helps retain their workers.
