Hospitalizations from COVID-19 are spiking in Central Florida as the number of positive cases have reached record highs in recent days, less than a month after the state entered its second phase of reopening.
As of Monday, 115 patients with COVID-19 were being treated at Orange County hospitals, according to information shared by Orange County health department officials.
Thats 51 more cases than the week before and 85 more than the week of May 17.
Health systems told the county their numbers were higher than ever before, said Dr. Raul Pino, health officer at the Florida Department of Health in Orange County, in an email on Monday.
Seminole County is also seeing more hospitalized coronavirus patients. There are currently 46 patients with COVID-19 in the countys hospitals.
Three weeks ago we had an average of 3-4 per day, said Alan Harris, chief administrator of Seminole County Office of Emergency Management in an email. This is an increase for certain.
Harris said three COVID-19 patients are currently in the ICU; in Orange, there are 20 patients in the ICU, a number that has stayed relatively flat over the past month.
In a shift from the beginning of the pandemic, when most of the hospitalized patients were in their 70s and 80s, patients now are in their 40s and 50s, Pino said. Florida Medical Association: Floridas doctors want you to wear a mask'
As Florida on Monday passed 100,000 positive coronavirus cases, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations are important because they indicate the spread and severity of disease and can signal whether local hospitals are at risk of getting overwhelmed.
Local hospitals say that they still have enough capacity, and theyve learned how to better manage COVID-19 patients.

I want to say “Fake News!”
I have no idea, but it doesn’t match all previous news from Florida.
Wait. Flat over the past month at 20 in ICU or rising quickly?
And the leftist, criminal media tries desperately to bring back the pandemic fear mongering so they can continue to control.
Never believe anything written by leftists.

Except for the opening sentence, it’s better than most coverage. Here’s the key information:
“Local hospitals say that they still have enough capacity, and theyve learned how to better manage COVID-19 patients.”
The numbers on at the top right of this page tell you everything you need to know.
liars. run by libtards. desperate to thwart Trump, and us, by lying about what’s going on.
The main county that houses the theme parks, including disney, and had HUGE national and international travel prior to mid march, has.....drum roll.....48 deaths.
It’s pathetic what’s going on here and our nation.
The headline tries to make you think 100,000 are hospitalized.
Anecdotal, but what I am seeing is a lot of young people are now catching it....young = between the ages of 20 to 30.
Of, or course, it could just be fake news.
The marching orders are to repeat the narrative that “Those damned Republicans opened their states too early - and look what is happening!” No counter facts can be discussed or even spoken aloud.
And the MAJORITY of new cases are “Asymptomatic”
Big Freaking Deal

Being infected isn’t as concerning as HOSPITALIZATIONS. The worrying thing is the HOSPITALIZATIONS are up.

I don’t know, folks. 51 cases is ‘more than ever before’??? Seems like a very small number after all the hyperbole. Let’s watch and see.
I have a feeling that these patients are being admitted for other reasons and as a precaution being tested for Covid19. When they test positive for the virus that is given as the reason for the admission.
“Florida Medical Association: Floridas doctors want you to wear a mask’ “
One thing most people do not realize is that most doctors do not have the time or even the inclination to keep up with latest research. This means in regards to wearing homemade mask they rely on what various health agencies and experts tell them. And we have seen just how much those experts change their tune.
Here we go again. The sky is falling.
I’m sorry, did I miss Trump’s Florida rally or something?
Actually, that could reflect a a falling rate. If depends upon how many tests were conducted between the two samples. There are a lot more tests now, so I would expect to see the count rise. What is the rate of positive cases to the people tested. Also, how many of those required hospitalization? It likely is “bent”news.
