Polling results released by an Alabama-based, nationally respected data firm on Monday show that both former Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville and former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions would enter a general election battle against U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) with a sizable lead.
Cygnal, recognized as the nations most accurate polling firm during the 2018 midterm cycle, conducted a survey of 530 likely Alabama general election voters from June 13-16.
The survey had a margin of error of ±4.26%, utilizing a probabilistic mixed-mode method that included Interactive Voice Responses (IVR) from landline phones as well as SMS text-message and email responses. Cygnal is not working for a candidate or PAC involved in Alabamas Senate race.
The survey showed that Tuberville would beat Jones by a larger margin than would Sessions.
The general election survey included respective ballot tests between each potential GOP nominee, Jones and independent candidate Michael Parrish.
Sessions would garner 44.70% in his hypothetical, compared to Jones at 35.20%. Another 17.50% of respondents were undecided, and Parrish took 2.70% of the vote.
Meanwhile, Tuberville received 49.70% in his general election scenario, with Jones at 35.70%, 12.70% undecided and 1.90% for Parrish.
Comparatively, Sessions would beat Jones by 9.50%, while Tuberville would beat Jones by 14.00%.
Breakdowns of the data show Tuberville fairing better than Sessions against Jones across almost all demographics.

So what’s the story this will be a senate seat pickup this year? That’s a good thing. Right? :-)
There’s another Democrat somewhere that’s having some troubles in the news and hopefully we can take advantage of that
Another senator that is.
About a month before the general election several former cheerleaders will come forward saying that Tuberville made improper advances to them.
I hope to God theyve done their homework in AL this time.
That clinches it. I was for Sessions because he seemed a better bet to beat Jones. If Tuberville gets better numbers than Sessions vs Jones, then Tuberville is the man for the nomination.
Do they want Tuberville instead of Sessions? I don’t trust any of them.
LOOK U IDIOTS! Tuberville is younger and good for 12 years-can the failed atty general say the same? If he goes RINO let Trump slap him around. The real question is will Pence?
As long as they're young women and not young men...I can think of worse things that might happen
Like him or hate him, Sessions is a known quantity. If Tuberville wins, look for for the democrat October surprise like they pulled on Roy Moore.
Old men and young women is why we have Jones and not a Republican senator...
Sessions is against the H1-B "flood the country with socialist immigrants" scheme,
BUT he's been shown to purposely not follow through with what he says,
and... he... is... OLD. Like Biden Old.
Jones is a leftist scum.
No good choices. Maybe Sessions so that the deadbeat American worker-hating scumbags in Congress - and the same in the Trump Administration - get the message.
(Not that any of them ever get ANY message.)
[Like him or hate him, Sessions is a known quantity. If Tuberville wins, look for for the democrat October surprise like they pulled on Roy Moore.]
Sessions will lose. That is why it is imperative, he is not nominated.
Come on Alabama, you have inflicted this inbred, midget moron on this country enough. Ease up.
So Jones is likely toast no matter who wins the primary.
Frankly, I’d worry more about skeletons in Sessions closet.
His confirmation hearing for AG was excruciating.
To my eye, Tommy T is looking more and more like the correct choice.
Tuberville is outside the margin of error and Sessions is especially compromised.
Q said to trust him... So I definitely don’t. Like Wray... He’s a deep stater Go Tuberville!!
Either one will easily beat Jones, who voted for impeachment.
You are a Q fan... Correct?
Won’t matter, State is too deep Red in an election year to vote for a Democrat.
[You are a Q fan... Correct?]
