I believe that NASCAR is still alive and well. The fans have a very short memory and do not mind being insulted. It will not be long before attendance is sro again.

Except “SRO” doesn’t mean anything anymore in NASCAR. Many of these tracks have been removing sections of their grandstands — because attendance was declining for years even before this whole fiasco.

Here’s a telling sign of trouble for NASCAR: The company itself owns 13 tracks that were going to host more than half the races in the original 2020 Cup schedule. After going through a period of robust growth in the 1980s and 1990s that expanded NASCAR beyond its traditional hotbed in the South, they haven’t opened a new track since 2001.
