It will not be long before attendance is sro again.

Except “SRO” doesn’t mean anything anymore in NASCAR. Many of these tracks have been removing sections of their grandstands — because attendance was declining for years even before this whole fiasco.

Here’s a telling sign of trouble for NASCAR: The company itself owns 13 tracks that were going to host more than half the races in the original 2020 Cup schedule. After going through a period of robust growth in the 1980s and 1990s that expanded NASCAR beyond its traditional hotbed in the South, they haven’t opened a new track since 2001.

[[because attendance was declining for years even before this whole fiasco.]]

Yup- I was commenting on that very thing awhile back- before the virus crap- the stands at many tracks were just not full at all- and i attributed it to all the new nascar rules and regulations ruining the sport- (ie- competition yellows, ‘stages’, and several others that have just ruined the whole ‘may the best car and driver win’ racing experience- I’ve seen time and time again, a driver dominating the field- way out ahead- his car sticking the track like glue, dialed in- driver in his rhythm nailing all the marks perfectly- only to have to stop racing because of the stages crap- go into pits, change car a bit, then get out of his groove and fall back because the idiotic stage break ruined his concentration and rhythm- and the car change makes the car too loose or tight- and someone else goes on to win the overall race-

Let them race! Without the mandatory breaks- I dunno- Doesn’t even seem like racing anymore really- it’s like stopping the action of a mma fight because one opponent isn’t doing well and about to lose- letting him get his second wind, and recover, and then coming back and dominating- just let them fight- if he can’t go 5 rounds without help- then he doesn’t deserve to win- let the drivers race- if they can’t get up to the front themselves without the help of ‘stages’- then they don’t deserve to win

gettign very frustrated with nascar
