Advertisers Are Fleeing Tucker Carlson. Fox News Viewers Have Stayed.
NY Times ^ | June 18 2020 | By Michael M. Grynbaum and Tiffany Hsu

In recent weeks, Tucker Carlson, the conservative Fox News host, has challenged the Black Lives Matter movement, dismissed demonstrators as “criminal mobs,” accused a Texas police chief of “sounding more like a therapist than a cop” and mocked a CNN children’s special about racism that featured Elmo, the “Sesame Street” puppet.

His comments have generated a harsh backlash. Critics have called Mr. Carlson’s on-air monologues incendiary and accused him of making racist remarks. Major advertisers, including the Walt Disney Company and Sandals, the vacation resorts, have fled, requesting that Fox News remove their ads from Mr. Carlson’s 8 p.m. hour.

Viewers, however, are tuning in.

“Tucker Carlson Tonight” was seen by 4.2 million people on Monday, making it the most-watched television program in the country that night, ahead of entertainment fare on the major networks. His show was the highest rated on Fox News last week, and he has pulled ahead of Sean Hannity, the network’s usual ratings leader, in total viewers for June.

So who’all advertised in Slimes, Compost, abc, msnbc et al during the Fake “Russia” and “Ukraine” periods?

So falsity and dishonor are rewarded, when truth is abandoned?

Good Lord

Tucker is truly the most capable host of a current events program on television today.

He lets his guests complete their thoughts!

He focuses on issues that other hosts fear to acknowledge.

Like Trump, he fights.

Tucker is THE ONLY news I watch on TV these days, and one of the very few things in total on TV I watch.

…”And the highest rated in all of TV including broadcast and cable. That is impressive and I consider Tucker “must see” television. Much like Rush on the radio.”...

Yes. If someone said to me, “You can choose only one broadcast to watch on your television, what would it be?” Without hesitation, I would say, “Tucker Carlson.” He clearly sees what is happening to our nation and he knows who his enemies and our enemies are and those enemies have no particular skin color. Tucker knows who they are inside and he knows what their ultimate plans are for anyone they consider to be inconvenient. He knows that he MUST get the truth out there before it is too late. What is going on now is not about racism. It is about the condition of the human soul. It is about good and evil.

When was the last time the paper labeled something a liberal says as “incendiary”?

Not in my lifetime! On their pages, not even a literal Molotov Cocktail is incendiary...

Recent history teaches me that, high ratings or not, Tucker is now teetering on the brink.

Total unadulterated nonsense.

“My friend is a Tucker fan and she hated the My Pillow commercials..UNTIL,she heard he wouldn’t leave like all the other advertisers...Still not crazy about the commercials but she is a big fan of MILE LINDELL.”

I’m right there with her. I’ve long thought that the commercials were unimaginative and tedious (and still do) but I GREATLY respect Lindell for hanging tough in this situation.

Anyone have a list of advertisers who are staying besides My Pillow? (I already have a pillow.)

Okay, so apparently they don’t want any business from anyone that watches Tucker. Okay GOOD Business people understand, that money, is money...and a good business tries to get purchases from all ranks, classes and races..it all spends the same.

“Never seen that blowhard self promoter Hannity actually let a guest finish answering a question.”

On the rare occasion I try to watch, I get a knot in my stomach any time a guest is making an interesting comment, knowing a Hannity talk-over is coming - and he always comes through. I switch channels once again.

“I have always said that the Sean Hannity show would be watchable if Sean Hannity were not on it.”

Sean is good hearted and honest. He has stayed on the deep state for several years. That being said, I cannot watch him anymore. His compulsive repetitive mantras and giving the guests 15 seconds after his one minute question is too much.

Over the past 6-9 months, Tucker has completely transformed his show. Before he would bring in some completely unknown leftist and attempt to debate and ridicule them. It was horrible TV. Now, he strikes a much more serious tone, has better guests and sources, and comes across as a more serious presenter/interviewer. His ratings have reflected in the format change. Unfortunately, viewers don’t matter to FOX unless they can translate those rating to advertising dollars. Watching Tucker feels like watching 2 am reruns with third rate advertisers. There is no way these smaller companies are paying the market rate for the #1 ranked show in the 8 pm time slot, and Fox is unable to cash in on the show’s popularity. If this continues, Tucker’s job is definitely at risk.

Tucker has an intelligent monologue with a calm serious delivery. Hannity has a repetitive talking point monologue with a whiny delivery.
++++
Did you say repetitive?
Did you say repetitive?

But the next time you post don’t forget to add some comment about the Hannity method for interviewing people who might have something to say that would be of interest.

His method: Take more time to ask questions than listening to answers. Plus always interrupt the interviewee by answering the questions before guests do. Target 80% of the time for questions and interruptions and 20% for answers. Make sure that at the end of the interview the viewers recognize that you are smarter than any of the people being interviewed.
