What is the role of women in a political movement as misogynistic as President Donald Trumps? What does it take to be the consort to an authoritarian?
Washington Post writer Mary Jordans deeply reported book focusing on Melania Trump tackles, in its own way, several of these questions. While the initial buzz centered around rumors that the first lady leveraged her husbands election to revise her prenup - this book is much more than a standard Bob Woodward-style recitation of insider accounts. Far from the helpless stereotype that has become a running punchline, Jordans research reveals something larger: the personality and strategy required to become a successful despots wife.
The first requirement for such a figure is accepting that the chief role of the feminine in an autocracy is to bolster male sexual power.
From the beginning of their relationship, Melania played this role well, making sure to tell Trumps detractors that he was a real man.
She purred on Howard Stern about Trumps Olympian bedroom talents. For Trump, she erased her past with other men, including a Frenchman who had gifted her a car.
Melania doesnt bother to hide her devotion to the trappings of Trump's lavish lifestyle. Her apparent unconcern with the cruelty that is this administrations hallmark are clear in her White House priorities.
Fascists adored the archetype of the attractive mother. In Italy today, where Steve Bannon has decamped, neo-fascist organization CasaPound has been working to make fascism cool again using an attractive young rightist mother named Carlotta Chiaraluce. Melania, wife of an American president who has privately advocated, according to John Bolton, for executing journalists, would likely be welcome in this club.

All you need to know about the value of Nina's opinions.
Well, Ive always thought that Americas greatest strength is that we are a country where you can come from humble circumstances and do great things, and where, despite our painful history, weve worked harder and harder every day, brick by brick, to build a more perfect union for all of us. And I would say to those, particularly in places like China and Russia and Iran, who may want to use this for propaganda, lets not be absurd.
This is not Tiananmen Square where youve mowed down people who disagreed with the government. This is not the invasion of Crimea where you took land from your neighbor. This is not the Green Revolution in Iran where you killed people wantonly because they wouldnt agree with the theocratic government.
Rice continued, And I would even say to our friends abroad, in places like Europe, where Im seeing demonstrations in support of what is happening here, thank you for your support, but please look in the mirror. Please ask yourself, in countries in Europe and countries all across the world, what are you doing about racial and ethnic inequality in your own circumstances? America has gotten better because we have been willing to confront our problems. And were going to confront our problems again. Were confronting them now.
But I really dont need to be lectured by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping about peaceful protest when they have themselves used their own force just because people wanted to criticize the government. That is not what is happening here, she added.
Nina would do well investigating that Gropin’ Joe-Ukraine thingy, no?
“an authoritarian”
The ONLY time the Leftists use that term is when some leader is not one of theirs. They never call Castro “an authoritarian”.
Sorry, couldnt get past NBC.
I can’t think of anything that would top that description.
Is that a tranny???
