What BLM really wants is a racial spoils system. Usually it's not spelled out as clearly as here. Why not quotas? Because they are illegal and because hiring CEOs based on skin color will cost both shareholders and workers, when companies are poorly managed.

There are no data that quotas have helped any women beyond the undeserving who had thumbs on the scales to get them on boards.

If women were to work as hard as men they would have representation. Period.

There are likely not enough qualified candidates to fill this amount of slots. There’s a reason Mexico and Zimbabwe don’t have space programs.

I work for one of the 'big banks' in NYC, and the virtue-signaling has gone into hyper-drive.

Between the emails from the top execs in the C-suite to the litany of conference calls and Zoom meetings to address "systemic racism" and "societal inequities" and other "calls to action", it has become ridiculous.

I have simply avoided the company-wide self-flagellation sessions, but I had to attend a zoom meeting called by a higher-up with my immediate team of about 15 people.

I felt for the manager who had to call the meeting and hit all of the talking points, but I had to really bite my tongue on a few things that were simply statistically false.

The standard tropes about the "honest dialogue" we need to have (which is is really just an echo chamber) were on full display. Anyone who does not simply agree with the perpetually aggrieved is "wished into the cornfield".

It was all about 'systemic racism' and how white males need to realize that we are "privileged", with no mention of black on black crime, or 70% of black kids with no father figure.

Despite this being sold as a "discussion" forum; any attempt to bring data, statistics, logic or reason in the discussion would have been career suicide. Corporations are spineless, but in today's environment, this has sunk to a new level.

I just need to hang in for a few more years if possible, and it is easier to bite the bullet while working from home, but I can't imagine what kind of over the top virtue signaling will be on display and required once we return to the office.

No matter how many token hires are made to meet the quota mentioned in the article; it will never be enough in the eyes of the mob.

Corporations love diversity and inclusion. They should just go grab random people off the street and offer them six-figure jobs to get the right mix of designated victimized and oppressed representatives.

Some people are woke. I’m awake. I’m a white person who has been awakened to the reality that no matter how many pounds of flesh I give, it will never be enough to appease the left and the race-baiters.

The whole idea of quotas is wildly racist. It is also how entities (businesses, countries, even whole societies) fail.

A quota says "We don't think this demographic group is capable of competing on their own merits. ie. the demographic group identified in the quota must me inferior to others. Tell me how that isn't racist. You can't.

Also, the moment we start bringing in people merely because they check a box, rather than they are the best we could find, then we start degrading our product/service. You want to fly to the ISS on a rocket designed by engineers with the "right" color of skin, the "right" gender, the "right" sexual orientation... Or do you want to strap yourself on a flying bomb designed by the most competent people that could be found - regardless of all that other category 3 BS? Exactly. You can feel-good yourself right into oblivion. Go ahead, dilute your capability - I'm sure there are competitors out there who are not.

I've been my company's "diversity officer" for our site for years. Other than answering a few emails I haven't done one single thing. I haven't forwarded one single email, scheduled any events, or lifted a finger to help or hurt anyone. Guess what - we have a diverse workforce. Not because we wanted to check a box, but because these are the best people we could find and sign on. No-one needed any help, we were glad to get every single person we've hired. And yes, there were people of every demographic we have said no-thanks to. Also people of every demographic we've tried to get but lost to other sites, other jobs. That's fair and open competition in action.

This makes sense, because the point of having a company in a capitalist system is to signal how virtuous you are, not to make money.

OK! How about quotas in the NFL and the NBA. How about quotas that mirror the population. That means 15% blacks and the rest whites. Forget about who can play the best. Just make it about quotas.

If someone’s goal was/is to further lower peoples’ opinions and expectations of blacks, this would be (another) good ‘issue’ for them to get behind.
