I think they had a regular warrant for Stone(including a tipped off CNN truck).

“If it is a hostage situation or a terrorist attack, I can see it, but it is not worth an innocent person’s life just to keep someone from flushing some drugs.”

__________

No warrants are needed in the case of a life threatening situation. If someone is holding a hostage inside a home, police (or anyone) can bust in to save someone’s life.

A Paramilitary Police Force ousting him and his Wife out of Bed at 5 AM while Armed with Automatic Weapons is serving a “regular” Warrant? Who knew?

They could have just called him in.

I hope he is pardoned soon and doesn’t spend a night in jail

SWAT raids are ALL nearly as bad as the Waco slaughter.

“Knock, knock! Unintelligible screaming at an occupant awakened from a deep sleep.

My immediate reaction would be “Home invasion by malevolent criminals! I must defend my family.”

Bang, bang, bang - I’ve been SWATTED and I am dead.

Not only will you be dead, but every jack boot licker and badge polisher on Free Republic will be wearing callous after callous on each hand as the reach orgasm after orgasm and they gleefully type that you got what and deserved what you got fro shooting at the Police. The fact of the matter was that you were dead before you realized what was happening. Ditto your wife if you have one and your dog if you have one. Just as the poor husband and wife on Harding Street in Huston Texas.

Well.....actually.......I have a great deal of knowledge about which I “speak”. And no, you can not get such a warrant from a 911 call or an informant’s tip. “Informant’s” information must be verified or there must be some other evidence given to believe it is true.

I repeat......these warrants are EXTREMELY rare for good reason. They put both the occupant’s and officers at risk. But they are a useful tool in the rare circumstances. Judges are reluctant to sign them absent these rare circumstances.

You’re confusing exigent circumstance which arise at the time of arrest with those that are known in advance. If the police know in advance, they are always better off getting a warrant, because the resultant search will be challenged in court by the defendant. Having a warrant improves dramatically the chances that the search will be upheld.

The day after the November Election, win or lose.

Same with Flynn if that Commie Judge screws him over.

“I repeat......these warrants are EXTREMELY rare for good reason.”

How many of these warrants are served each year, and what is your source for your figures?

Some years ago in Tucson, the cops carried out a no knock warrant on some dude who had been a Marine, and his family was involved in the drug trade. (I think they were prosecuted for such. Not sure. I quit following the story.) Anywho, the police waited for the guy to finish his night shift, drive home, go to sleep, then flash bang into the house where the guy was sleeping. The guy’s wife and toddler were there. Let’s just say they obliterated the man. The wife received a hefty payout after some lawsuits. The police had plenty of opportunity to stop him away from home. The police could have raided his house while he was at work.

I don’t know how may such warrants are sought, and how many are signed.

I respect the people on this board, but I’m not comfortable giving out information on how I know.

Such warrants are extremely rare, as the officers must convince the judge that certain exigent circumstances exist to circumvent the usual knock-notice requirement.

Not any more.

The Breonna warrant was basically boilerplate, looking for guns, drugs, money, and records...

No-Knock warrants went from 3000 in 1981 to 50,000 in 2005, according to one estimate.

Another estimate is from 1,500 to 20,000.

The problem is kids calling the cops to “SWAT team” someone they don’t like. I’ve seen more stories about this trend and its deeply disturbing.

I would be surprised as well.
