The city of Duluth is moving to delete the word chief from the titles of two of its administrative leadership positions in an effort to remove language that some Native Americans and others find offensive.
On Monday, the City Council is scheduled to take up an amendment to the city charter to change the name of the citys chief administrative officer to city administrator. The citys chief financial officer would be renamed finance director.

The country is currently in the grips of an insane, hysterical obsession. This happens very frequently in the USA. It’s whatever the media choose to broadcast 24/7 in the leading position. The media have covered the riots to an extreme, making sure that every last person on Earth knows about them and takes home the message: “White bad. Trump bad too.”
During these frequent excursions into obsessive-compulsive neurosis people do things based on the emotion of the moment. They don’t use their powers of reason. They can only jump on the bandwagon and follow the herd. They do stupid things which get them the approval of the other cattle in the herd.
I don’t expect much, and so I’m not disappointed.

Chief is a word derived from French, Chef, as in Chef de Cuisine. It is not a Native American word.

What BS. I worked my butt off for 19 years for that title, wore it on my sleeve for ten more, and it will be on my tombstone when the bury me!
