I found a government web site that validated what’s on that meme, and more. The guy was running because he knew he was likely to go back to prison.

Had he been taken in, his parole would likely have been violated and possibly he would have gone back behind bars. Alive. He choose his actions.
As is usually the case there are shades of gray and the truth is someplace in between.
This guy was certainly no angel. Neither was George Floyd. But so far as I can tell neither of them did anything that warrants the death penalty. And even if they did there is due process and a cop does not get to be judge, jury and executioner.
Sometimes a cop is bad and acts with malfeasance. Sometimes there is a fog of war situation and tragic things just happen. Sometimes a cop has legitimate reasons to draw his weapon. Sometimes they misjudge that situation. There are some bad cops, but most certainly the majority are NOT bad.
Nobody seems to be able to look at things realistically anymore.

I watched the bodycam footage.
Brooks seemed retarded.
Both cops had to repeat every single question & instruction multiple times & he seemed unable to comprehend simple English.
Plus, he had no clue where he was, he gave obviously false answers to how he & his car got there, and 3 different answers to what he’d been drinking.
The cops were way too patient— they should have cuffed him within 5 minutes.
