The Atlanta officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks in the back after the fleeing man pointed a stun gun in his direction will be charged, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard made the announcement about officer Garrett Rolfe during a news conference. Rolfe had already been fired after he fatally shot Brooks, 27, on Friday night.

This is an injustice.
Provide clarification.
Did the suspect shoot the taser or not?
Was the taser “empty” and could not be used to incapacitate the police officer?
“Felony murder is a BS charge. The cop returned fired immediately after he was fired upon by Brooks.”
DoodleDawg seems to be claiming Brooks did not fire the taser.
I’ve asked if he can provide documentation.
The first cop was staying cool until he had backup, wisely as it turns out, since one on one with Brooks would likely have left him dead. I don’t get people defending the public menace child abuser and justifying numerous felonies because of a cops curbside manner. Pathetic.
You are so right in this observation!
The American Revolution was the Revolution for “man the individual”
The French Revolution was the Revolution for “man the collective”
This exactly what these jokers want.
I wish cops, especially ones in these high crime, vibrant areas, would walk away. We need a walk away movement for the police. I know it’s scary to give up a paycheck, house, retirement, etc. but it’s worse to be killed or thrown to the wolves.
Do what is right. Right for you. Right for your family. Right as it will get people’s attention when you are no longer around. Walk the eff away!
And I’m not always a huge fan of the police. I know there are very bad eggs. The murderer of Daniel Shaver was one. And I didn’t think it was right with Eric Gardner in NY. And I’ve seen and heard of others. But this is awful what is happening to law enforcement across the board.
They are not compelled to stay in their careers and be thrown in the arena to the lions. Get out now! If you don’t now, with the writing on the wall, well...not gonna have much sympathy as time goes on.
No, he fired the Taser and at that point both darts had been fired and the weapon was useless. So I'll point you to reply 79 where I quoted the Supreme Court guidelines on when the use of deadly force on a fleeing suspect was justified. Where did Brooks meet those?
Yes.
Was the taser empty and could not be used to incapacitate the police officer?
Yes. According to the DA the shot Brooks fired while fleeing was the second dart and the Taser was useless. Rolfe shot him after that.
Next question?
Perhaps. Perhaps not.
Why didn't the officer shoot Brooks while they were struggling on the ground? Just curious.
Did the suspect shoot the taser or not?
Yes.
Was the taser empty and could not be used to incapacitate the police officer?
Yes. According to the DA the shot Brooks fired while fleeing was the second dart and the Taser was useless. Rolfe shot him after that.

How can he shoot an empty taser?
Your answers contradict each other.
Your second answer is irrational, but does provide the info.
The taser the suspect Brooks took control was able to be fired and had the potential to incapacitate the officer.
You indicated differently in an earlier post.
It seems Brooks wrested the taser from the cop.
The taser was active.
The taser was pointed at the cop.
The active taser was shit at the cop.
The question then us: what was the timing vis-a-vis the shooting of Brooks and Brook’s shooting the taser at the cop?
According to the videos it appears that Rolfe fired his pistol after Brooks shot the Taser at the officers. Brooks' shot was the second dart. The Taser was not a threat after that. That is the scenario that the DA laid out during his press conference.
I never said he did. He fired the second dart while fleeing and after that the Taser was empty and no longer a threat. It was empty when Rolfe shot him.
Your answers contradict each other.
They don't appear to be.
The taser the suspect Brooks took control was able to be fired and had the potential to incapacitate the officer.
Not at the point when Brooks was shot.
“I would love to see a disorganized Blue Flu in some of these cities.”
Me too. A real serious flu.
We need the “Mother of All Blue Flus”
Not guilty...all charges.
Yup,nationwide...covering every Rat run city and town!
100%
We'll see, won't we?
