"Gone with the Wind" will be returning to HBO Max with some new material.
The 1939 film was pulled from HBO Max amid heightened racial tension around the world following the death of George Floyd, who died while in police custody after officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck for over eight minutes.
When the film returns to the streaming service -- the date of which is still unclear -- it will include an introduction from Jacqueline Stewart, a Turner Classic Movies host and professor in the Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago.

I'll get the popcorn. No, seriously, 7 minutes would give me time to hit the bathroom and pop some corn while the TV is muted. Fortunately I have a bluray disc of it so I don't have to play HBO's game.
In the old soviet days in the USSR they would always put a political message before films or live entertainment. Who didn’t see this coming?
You’ve got to have sensitivity training before you can watch a frickin’ movie made in 1939? Yet there is no 7 minute introduction on any of the multiple TV shows that are full of nothing but lesbians and homos swapping spits and having sex?
As an adult, I take it as a major insult that this clown or
any other has to inservice me before I watch a work of art.
To hell with that!
The black maid was the best part of the movie to me. (I don’t care for the film really.) My wife tells me she won an Academy Award for that role - first black person to get one.
That didn’t take long. They figured they would utilize the opportunity to add some propaganda and brainwashing before you can watch the film. These people don’t miss a trick.
Must insert propaganda in there. Leftists never miss an opportunity.
7 minutes. Just enough time for a quick buzz cut.
Gotta be lectured at by our moral and intellectual superiors.
The black “maid”.. I love your innocent sense of humor! Just never refer to her as a maid around BLM. ;)

She’s on TCM so they can do more Black Stuff
Nice haaircut.
The new mansplaining?
I think this could become a trend, to have an introduction for old movies and TV shows, to lecture us as to how these movies and TV shows were made in a different era.
I’m sure all of the old family sitcoms from the 50s and 60s offend the sensibilities of today’s social justice Warrior types.
The movie from the seventies Blazing Saddles, is considered offensive by the social justice Warriors and politically correct types. Mel Brooks made that movie and he said he couldn’t make that movie today because Hollywood is so hypersensitive nowadays.
I haven’t seen Blazing Saddles in many years , but as I recall the whole movie was intended to be absurd and poke fun at stereotypes. I can just imagine the lecture which will proceed Blazing Saddles, if indeed they still will allow us to watch it on streaming services. Some old movies , such as Disney’s Song of the South , are considered so offensive that they’ve never been released on home video or shown on TV anywhere.
That she did. But Clarke didn’t.
Especially one who walks slowly under a flock of pigeons
