Donald Trump has long had two cherished American institutions standing beside him as he railed against athletes taking a knee during the national anthem: NASCAR and the NFL.
This week, they both started to walk away.
Bending to the cultural moment, NASCAR and the NFL in recent days reversed course on their approach to athletes protesting racial injustice. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he had been wrong for not listening to protesting players earlier and encouraged all to speak out and peacefully protest. Meanwhile, NASCAR relaxed rules barring kneeling during the national anthem and banned Confederate flags from its events. Within days, a NASCAR driver was circling a track in a race car emblazoned with #BlackLivesMatter and a NASCAR official was taking a knee during pre-race ceremonies.
The moves came in response to the protests that have erupted across the country in response to the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died at the hands of the Minneapolis police. And they reflected shifting cultural attitudes polls show an increasing percentage of the population view racism as a big problem in the country and the protests as a justified response.
Yet Trump stood his ground. He attacked Goodell, wondering whether the commissioner was telling players that it would now be O.K. for the players to KNEEL, or not to stand, for the national anthem, thereby disrespecting our Country & our Flag? And he separately lashed out about a blossoming discussion about renaming military bases named after Confederate leaders.
The changing tenor from the two leagues could be pivotal for Trump, though. The president has long leaned on the front offices of each organization as he has publicly attacked athletes who took a knee during the national anthem, and privately pressured some team owners to change anthem rules.

This week, they both started to walk away. . . from their fan base. And from their future livelihood. Bye-bye, NFL and Nascar.
Trump didn’t lose Shiite - he got GREAT campaign issues.
When I get free housing, free food, free everything and don’t get arrested when I’m out rioting, burning and looting because I am oppressed then maybe.
In other words, NEVER will I kneel to anyone.
I don’t think, based on its actions, the NFL was ever an ally in the knee bending. Just the opposite.
What NASCAR and the NFL lost far exceeds anything President Trump lost: FANS. ADVERTISING $$$.
Trump still has his fans and his $$$.
Where did this idea come from?
Oh. Right. Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. Dedicated to Lucifer.
So its obvious the Dems are terrified about the prospect of Sleepy Joe having to go toe to toe with Trump so theyre doing everything to make it look like Trump is losing...polls, suburban women, Christians, military leaders, etc., etc....wherein the NFL aand NASCAR are the losers...fans and money. NFL will be a cottage industry for primadonnas available only on pay per view in a few years and NASCAR isnt what it once was and wont be supported solely by Chads and Karens...so you can stick a fork in them within a few years, too.
Based on some conversations I’ve had this weekend with NASCAR fans (I was one as well), NASCAR is not doing so well .... among those I talked to, Trump has not lost any followers, in fact, support has strengthened. The NASCAR pandering (video, race car drivers verbally ‘bending the knee’, etc.) was viewed as totally disgusting. They’ll be following on the heels of the self-exterminating NFL any day now.
Then, this year, they hosted him as an honored guest at a Daytona race before the cars started going around and around the track.
NASCAR changes its positions as often as the “stock cars” change their tires.
President Trump has had NASCAR’s back.
Who has NASCAR’s backbone?
Consumers will vote with their wallets and check books....
The Corporations. They are the ones running the show now. BLM is the child of the Corporations.
What support? The fans are solid supporters and he doesn’t need any money from NFL or NASCAR. Please don’t bother putting up anything from Yahoo News or Politico.
The bad news for them is that corporate sponsors include some terribly mismanaged politically driven outfits like JC Penney and Gillette.
Two sinking entertainment entities have chosen suicide.
BS ! If people reacted negatively in any significant way to the behavior of the NFL, NBA & corporate SJW behavior the corporations wouldn’t do it.
We were tested last NFL season and we failed. Some of us like myself stopped watching but the numbers were not enough to effect the bottom line.
We have power we’re just too fragmented to use it effectively.
Yahoo commie news aka ATT sells bold faced lies .
Who controls the means of propaganda in this country, and with it the power to influence public opinion?
Get Woke, Go Broke.
I left the NFL behind when they couldn’t decide what nation they were the football league of.
NASCAR joins the sports I will no longer patronize.
Good to know that these guys are down with the struggle. They supports Black (Pigs In A Blanket, Fry Em Like Bacon! What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!) Lives Matter. They need go out and wash some feet. That will really prove how spineless they are.
What “anti-kneeling crusade”?
