A .22 rifle is a great place to start. Don't underestimate it. Every large land animal on earth has been killed with a .22, including elephants.
Probably more people killed with a .22 than with a .30-30.
You can get a good .22 for a couple of hundred dollars.

Actually I think she and the other top Democrats see the effort to make the police ineffective coupled with gun control makes it easier for them to further their ambition to destroy the Republic and become the Democratic States of America.
True enough— get enough 22 rounds into certain target areas (like, the head) and you have a dead perp/enemy/criminal.
To be blunt, up close and personal with a reduced powder 22 round to the head (doesn’t exit but rattles around) is the choice of...clandestine experts. But a 1/4 mile away Creedmoor is darned good as well.
Eh, a little far away for me, but I do have a firearms shop quite literally 2 or 3 blocks from my House. I should be fine, should the shop survive the coming BLM protest* this Sunday. I had to make an appointment for Tuesday — Thanks, Covidiots.
*Yes, even in my otherwise decent, fairly small town, somebody’s about to leave the bag of idiots open.
And I sincerely hope that the protest — again, just like the gun shop, it will be 2 or 3 blocks from my house — will go peacefully, so I won’t have to be up all night sitting on the front porch with a frying pan in my hands and my Ka-Bar in my pocket.
