An internal memo sent to Starbucks employees last week specifically warned staffers against wearing accessories or clothes bearing messages in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The memo, obtained by BuzzFeed News, reminds staffers that such messages are prohibited under the company's policy against accessories that "advocated a political, religious or personal issue."
Numerous employees told the news outlet, however, that the company regularly allows or even encourages employees to wear pins in support of LGBTQ equality, especially during Pride Month every June.
"Starbucks LGBTQ+ partners wear LGBTQ+ pins and shirts, that also could incite and create violent experiences amongst partners and customers," one black transgender employee of the coffee chain told BuzzFeed. We have partners who experienced harassment and transphobia/homophobia for wearing their pins and shirts, and Starbucks still stands behind them."
A video from a top company executive reportedly sent with the memo warned employees that "agitators who misconstrue the fundamental principles" of the movement could seek to "amplify divisiveness" if the messages are displayed in stores.
"We know your intent is genuine and understand how personal this is for so many of us. This is important and we hear you," the memo read.

They were reward by incessant attacks from liberals for not doing enough. They were even set-up for racial confrontations.
For the last couple years Starbucks has tried to be less publicly 'woke' because no matter what they said or did it only put a bigger target on their back.
Now Starbucks is trying to remain neutral by banning BLM attire.
They just put another target on their back.
Can I still ask for a black coffee?
They’ll cave in a week and give millions to BLM.
I like my coffee blonde and sweet. Like my women.
You and me both. :)
That’s just racist.
I wouldn't doubt it a bit.
LOL!
I hated Starbucks before everyone else did...
they’ll cave....
Howard Schultz wants to run for prez again...
I just began to have a tad more respect for Starbucks.
They should ban them from wearing anything political, or engaging in any political discussions. They are there to sell coffee, not piss off half their potential customers.
All businesses would be well advised to follow this policy.
that would be coffee of Dark color as opposed to coffee of Light color. Let’s reclaim the language with our coffee.
Maybe they were in your neighborhood before mine...
The ONLY time I have purchased ANYTHING from Starbucks is when they have space in a Rest area or Truck stop and ALL the other coffee outlets are closed.
I realize I probably have an ‘attitude’ when ordering but I always feel I have to explain to the clerk what a REGULAR black coffee is..
When I first hit South of M/D line I remember whenever ordering coffee to go one HAD to mention NO SUGAR as just saying Black only meant no cream.....
Nothing worse than taking a swig of black coffee and have it loaded with sugar and not expecting it...
LOL Dontcha love headline writers who can't write headlines...
I had the same problem in the South with iced tea. I ordered unsweetened iced tea with lemon in a sit down restaurant and got sweet tea. I was on a low car. diet so even a sip is a no-no. I sent it back, only to get ANOTHER sweet tea! They were NOT busy. One of the few times I left a low tip.
Lots of open support for sodomy. Don’t order anything that looks milky.
I stopped on a construction site the other day for a cold call.
There were three guys on the site talking. Before I said a word, The oldest looked at me and if youre not a Trump supporter, just leave
I reached in my pocket and pulled out a Trump 2020 face mask.
Got a great laugh and made a good sales call.
I never bring it up but conservative conversations are very common.
