Kevin McCarthy: ‘Could Be Appropriate’ to Rename Some Bases Named After Confederates
Breitbart ^ | June 11,2020 | Sean Moran

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a press conference on Thursday that it “could be appropriate” to rename some military bases that were named after Confederate generals.

McCarthy signaled his openness to renaming some military bases named after Confederates. This would have major implications for large military bases named after Confederates such as Fort Benning in Georgia and Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

“I think it could be appropriate to change” some military bases, McCarthy said.

The Senate Armed Services Committee approved an amendment on Wednesday to require the Department of Defense to rename military bases or and other installations named after Confederate generals. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sponsored the amendment.

“It’s long past time to end the tribute to white supremacy on our military installations,” Warren wrote on Tuesday

Do not appease. It does not work. Here is my latest parody on Kipling:

Paying Progressive Dane-Geld

It is always a temptation to an entitled population
To call upon a neighbour and to say: —
“We rioted last night—we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ‘em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation,  with Orwellian dictation,
To puff and look important and to say: —
“You are oppressed. White men caused this mess.
We will pay you public cash to go away.”

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation to a youthful population,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: —

“We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!”

He should just announce “We are weak.” He is bowing to pressure. Maybe he could wash Maxine Water’s feet. He comes from a long line of phonies; Bohner and Ryan. 60s radical Jerry Rubin said, “Satisfy our demands, and we’ve got twelve more. The more demands you satisfy, the more we got.” Eventually they will get around to Washington, D.C.
“This is a terrorist takeover of the USA funded by China and Soros.” Zathras you left out every major U.S. corporation.
Most of these people are on film at Jeffrey Epstein’s townhouse. They cannot afford to stand up for America.

Trump should say he will veto the measure unless these assets are named after MOH recipients. Period. Their stories are forgotten. This would help bring them to light. TOTAL WINNER for Trump. Disrespecting the Medal Of Honor is a stone cold loser for a politician. This allows him to take the initiative.

Rename the ship that is named after a pederast who had sex with demonic Reverend Jim Jones.

Trump warned after Charlottesville that the Left is gunning to eradicate the memory of Washington and Jefferson and they are already on it.

“...In the inevitable hot civil war, I’d like to see traitors like MCCarthy executed before the leftist fascists...”

That is a shocking statement. I agree with it fully.

In a very real sense, McCarthy is a lot WORSE than the open enemy before us, because he feigns friendship with a malevolent intent.

legally, how did the civil war start?

in my understanding, it was a war of secession— a legal disagreement over legal autonomy and legal jurisdiction.

secession was not covered in the constitution (or is it?).

fighting started at fort sumter.

apparently there was no formal declaration of war (??).

so, at least in april or may of 1861, prospective confederate soldiers were defending a legal autonomy dispute. slavery was still legal in all states that withdrew from the union.

i wonder, is it fair to judge confederate soldiers as pro slavery when slavery was still legal in the south when they signed up for military duty? slavery seems incidental to the initial confederate cause. the emancipation declaration was 2 years in the future.

judging deceased people who cannot any longer speak in their own defense on a faulty premise implies it can easily happen again, and not necessarily be restricted to people who are deceased.

I will probably get flamed for this, but I have no problem with renaming all military installations after genuine military heroes. Not that the Confederate Generals were not good and brave soldiers, but they did abandon their oaths of office and rebel against the US Government (we don't have a Fort Benedict Arnold, do we?).

We have more than enough great military leaders and winners of the Medal of Honor to name bases after. I nominate that Ft. Hood be renamed Ft. Patton (since Ft. Hood is a major Armor center), although liberals wouldn't like to remember Patton, either..

My only issue with this is that we shouldn't do it while the mob is raging. Wait and do it later - after all, if it didn't need to be done while Barack was acting as President, it isn't urgent now.

Flame away, if you must. For the record, I am a retired Army major (3-1/2 active and 16-1/2 reserves), whose parents are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. My ancestors have served in the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Two of my four brothers served on active duty and my sister married a career Air Force officer.

Are you insane or just dense ??

He's from California, take your pick. The average West Coaster is clueless when it comes to the military, or the South.

The GOP demonstrated their fecklessness when they voted him Minority Leader.
