The Monuments Men: Missing In Action June 19, 2020
I yearn for the days when countries pulled together at a time of war to protect art, to prevent the destruction of history and culture. Remember The ‘Monuments Men’?
“Prior to the U.S. entrance to the war, American art professionals were looking for ways to protect European art and monuments from being stolen by the Nazis or from being destroyed during the war. President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the American Commission for the Protection and Salvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments in War Area.” A group of men and women from 13 nations, most of whom volunteered for service in the American government’s Monuments, Fine Arts and Archives unit, risked their lives to uncover 1,000 hidden troves that held over 5 million pieces of art and culture stolen from people and institutions all over the world”(1) (2)

There were also many museum directors, curators, artists, architects and archivists, who went to great lengths to crate, move and hide massive paintings, sculptures and artifacts in an effort to protect art collections from being destroyed or plundered. In an effort to save as much of the culture as they could.
We are at war. The Nazis and Fascists have returned. Black Lives Matter (BLM ) has declared war on America. Our cities are burning, our police force is under attack, the very foundations of our nation are under attack, our Constitution is under attack, our art, our history, our culture are all suffering from this scourge known as BLM. BLM et al are destroying statutes, paintings and artifacts they deem as racist. (5) Art work is even being removed from the White House so as not to offend their delicate sensibilities. However, if their “art”, representing their long six year old history and culture, is destroyed, it is a sad day.(6) (btw by a gang of mostly minority looters)
President Trump we call on you to reinstate the American Commission for the Protection and Salvage of Artistic and Historic Monuments Act. If you can’t find any museum directors, curators, artists, architects and archivists, willing to choke on their own hypocrisy and stand up to BLM et al , there are millions of other Americans willing to volunteer. Maybe George Clooney could lead the charge. The preservation of art and culture used to be important to him. But maybe he only champions the preservation of art and culture in parts of the world where slavery was never a part of their history. Like Europe.

I need to look through this thread. It is highly important now to reverse the momentum of the left by pushing back hard by attending rallies, contacting elected officials at every opportunity. The left as teens and snowflakes seems to organize and be willing to get on the street. We can’t let basement dwellers change our country and culture.
