Senate committee adopts amendment requiring renaming of military bases

Washington — The Senate Armed Services Committee approved an amendment to the annual military spending bill that would require the Defense Department to change the names of military bases and assets named for Confederate leaders.

A source familiar with the proceedings confirmed to CBS News that the GOP-led panel on Wednesday approved the amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) offered by Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts via voice vote. According to a summary of the NDAA released by the committee Thursday, the measure requires the Defense Department to rename posts and assets — streets, aircraft, ships, and other equipment — either named for Confederate officers or that honor the confederacy within three years.

You are correct. Ask the French during the French Revolution. Ask the Russians when the Bolshevik took over.Ask the Soviets when Stalin took power. Ask the Cubans when Castro took over.

Can’t Trump find a better party to belong to?

The two party system requires association to get elected.

For all intents and purposes President Trump has been an independent from the start. That is what the deep state loathes about him and what is keeping romney afloat ready to take the reins if the coup succeeds.

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe President Trump will cave.

Let’s assume he did that:

So we have three parties Rats, GOP & Trumps party.
Rats have a garaunteed 47% the one thing Romney was right about, that leaves 53X% (Note 2016 Trump 46% Hillary 48% Difference 2% down) Basically both sides are essentially equal.

1. 50% GOP voters stay with GOP, 50% go with Trump. Of the three parties who wins?

2. 30% GOP voters stay with GOP, 70% go with Trump. Of the three parties who wins?

3. 10% GOP voters stay with GOP, 90% go with Trump.

I think you notice there is no way you can take a smaller number or nearly equivalent number divide it and make a larger number.

Thanks to the electoral college our system is not 100% dependent on raw numerical superiority. However it still is very sensitive to it.

Dividing your strength in the face of the enemy is very rarely smart. It only works in special circumstances.

Easier & safer for Trump forces to continue to take over the GOP.

Quite interesting how fast they're acting on this nonsense when they drag their feet for years on what really matters to the entire country......like voter ID for all.....rather than this constant catering to special interest groups.

Actually surprised to see some of the names on the list.

I’m not. They’re all United States Senators. The Senate is the absolute bottom of the beltway barrel.

It seems the country is lost whether or not Trump wins reelection. The best we can do now is demand some form of secession. Heck, theyve already started it in seattle. Let them split off their blue cities and govern themselves and let the rest of us choose our own leaders. Patriots caught up in the big cities can pick a side, dying cities or patriotic traditional America. We’re divided anyway. Let’s make it official.

I agree 100%.

I was once fervently hoping that the Tea Party would get critical mass and break out into a new party. Unfortunately that didn’t happen but if enough people start talking about it maybe it will get Trump’s attention. As he has said before: What do you have to lose?

Given the GOP’s pathetic and persistent weakness I’m willing to go with a new party. It couldn’t be any worse than the fake party we have now.

How about Fort Ray Eubanks? Sergeant Eubanks was a member of the 503 Parachute Infantry who won the Congressional Medal of Honor (CMOH) on Noemfoor Island in WW2. He was from La Grange, North Carolina. Having an Airborne Trooper from North Carolina who won the CMOH seems to be the perfect choice for the name of the base in North Carolina that is home to both the 82nd Airborne and the XVIII Airborne Corps.

Wouldn’t he be a better choice than Braxton Bragg, who was widely considered one of the worst generals in the Confederate Army (he was relieved of command by Jefferson Davis after he lost the Battle of Chattanooga)?

Shouldn’t US Army bases be named after US Army heroes?

https://armedservices.house.gov/meet-our-members

THERE ARE FIVE MORE DEMOCRAT MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE THAN REPUBLICAN MEMBERS.

Also, the Pentagon was compromised years ago. (ever wonder why the left doesn’t trash the military anymore? )

It’s because the ‘brass’ is a commie ‘social change’ organization. They’re incapable of winning a war - even if the enemies weapons were made of play dough... But their top people get great jobs with military contractors with the war machine... and chances to give ‘speeches’ (take bribes) for $5,000 a minute in Arab hellholes... trading the lives and limbs of our young for perks.

This all about Nancy Pelosi. Trump needs to go after this bitch. I just read she not only had time in 2008 to go directly after my company while the economy was crashing, but was trying to remove the statues from the congress even back then. “Let me just say that when I was Speaker, I did do what I had the authority to do, which was to relegate Robert E. Lee to the crypt,’ she said, speaking of her time serving as speaker between 2007 and 2011.”

The republicans have officially joined the effort to defeat Trump this year, if some of them lose their seats, no big problem, they’ll still rake in bundles as dem approved lobbyists.
