Ordinarily I tend to favor an understated but firm and measured response.
I don’t think that’s appropriate here. I think what’s appropriate and absolutely necessary is a serious shock and awe assault with overwhelming force.
The longer they wait the greater force will be needed, and the potential for city-wide anarchy will be much greater. They may already have waited too long. And I see no reason to believe anyone in the government there is going to grow a spine coupled with critical reasoning skillsft.
I see the real potential for Seattle to turn into an American version of Beirut. Ditto for other Democrat cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. It’s starting to sound like the beginning of Kurt Schlichter’s book People’s Republic.
I tend to agree - that area has been occupied by a hostile force and neither the city nor the State has a plan to take it back. POTUS should wait until they beg for help.
Another example of “space to destroy”. Seattle is about to receive a learning opportunity. I feel sorry for the decent people who will be harmed by this evil.
They walled off a seven block area on Capital Hill. No police allowed entry. They invited the homeless in and provided them food. The next day they find out the homeless took all of the food, and these anarchists have no food. They have let food trucks into the area and are finding out the prices have been hiked up. A hot dog costs $6.00. Capitalism at its best. I don’t think they have access to a grocery store. Reality is a harsh taskmaster.
Welcome to Libya...
For your information:
There ARE Conservatives here. We do all we can to stop the madness, but there are more of the enemy here than there are of us. And some of us are in a position where we can’t leave.
Don’t forget: Know what’s in whacked out California?
Free Republic. HQ in Fresno, CA.
“I want to see how far the devolvement goes.”
I can’t disagree with you on that.
“More like Bolshevik revolution redux...this time with Antifa, the Mexican cartels, the Crips, Bloods, and BLM all in the mix. That rapper with the AK wont be there long!”
Vive la résistance! La guillotine for Raz Simone, le dictateur!
“....a coalition of black activists associated with the autonomous zone released a more specific list of demands, including the total abolition of the Seattle Police Department, the retrial of all racial minorities serving prison time for violent crimes, and the replacement of the police with autonomous restorative/transformative accountability programs.
LOL
Seattle City Council Member Kshama Sawant is a Marxist. I wish someone could knock her off the council in an election.
Sawant is calling for the resignation of Mayor Jenny Durkan. For Sawant, Durkan is not liberal enough.
Hear, hear
Where is the popcorn?! Perhaps we will get to see Antifa and Democrats eat each other. I sometimes like well done horror flix

I think the first step (and the President is already tweeting about it) is to threaten to cut federal funding to the state and the city.
That requires no troops and puts incredible pressure on local officials to take responsibility and act.
Other non-military actions discussed here include cutting power to the area, cutting cell phone service, and cutting other utilities.
Folks should also remember there are innocent folks who are hostages of the crazies.
All the lunatics should be subject to federal kidnapping charges when this is over, and they should be placed in federal prisons far from Washington state.
There. Tightened up that prose for ya a little.
Can someone build a wall around this zoo?
“And some of us are in a position where we cant leave”.
NO ONE is a position where they can’t leave. No one. You choose to not leave. You make excuses for why you can’t leave.
California was my wife and my home state. We have 5 children. We quit our jobs. We sold our home we bought the land and built from the dirt up. Left our family and friends behind. We moved to a light Purple state where WE can make a difference. We realized, sadly, that California is a futile lost cause and our votes were worthless.
We left the Temecula Valley that we grew up in to go someplace where we could make a difference.
It’s the best-damned decision we ever made. Though it was a difficult decision at the time. New state. No family or friends and no jobs when we arrived.
You make good points.
See no reason to believe the Seattle government and do any of that unless Federal pressure is excruciating.
