Rep. Al Green (D., Texas) said Tuesday that a new cabinet-level position should be created to "eliminate racism and discrimination in all its forms."
"We ought to have a secretary of reconciliation who reports directly to the president of the United States, whose job it will be to eliminate racism and discrimination in all of its forms," Green told MSNBC's Craig Melvin.

When I was a kid I was happy to have been born here, where people had the freedom and right to think or say anything. A crime was an action, not a thought or some words. If people didn’t like what you thought or said, you just didn’t have many friends.
We did, about as much as is possible by humans, eliminate racism.
Stop rubbing our faces in it.
Stop making us aware of race.
If Forsyth County GA went from “most racist” (blacks present after sunset faced lynching) to deeply integrated (high % black, Hispanic, Indian, Asian), in a few decades to no apparent discrimination in normal social life, the issue has largely been resolved.
Those who benefit from resolving a problem have an interest in perpetuating it.
Those profiting from “end racism!” have no exit strategy nor terminating condition.
We’ve mostly ended it here, so making it an issue it isn’t.
If the racial spoils system is to be enhanced, let congress and the president design it and use state violence to enforce it.
An unelected cabinet personality is not directly accountable.
Mr. Green you have been elected to do your job. Do your job.
Almost feels like this is a dream. Like this insanity isn’t really happening. But here we are. Where have all the good people gone? Where is the voice of reason? Where is common sense? Are people really going to vote for the dems this fall? How the hell does anyone expect trump hating, pro rioting blue cities and states to have fair elections this November?

Yes, I agree with you, judges for sure too and the rest, or at least make it easier to get rid of government employees. Lifetime appointments are ridiculous and ripe for scandals. But the Senate and Congress reform is needed now. And yes, elections are supposed to be used to replace them, but there are so many stupid people, there needs to be something to kick the elected ones out after the 12 years or whatever terms we agree with. It was never meant to be a full time job. And many of those voters will vote for the one who gives them the most. So term limits would help IMHO.
Respect is one of those things you have to give in order to get.
