Sanford and Son was hilarious. The Jeffersons, not so much.
IMHO.
My basketball teammates in college used the N word religiously. Both on each other and on the white boys. We didn’t think anything of it. It was more a term of affection than anything else. It’s from the word for “black” in Spanish and evolved into the crude form we find today. Sticks and stones can break my bones but names can not hurt me. (Never mind what 9mm rounds fired by blacks can do to black lives)
The thought police are scrutinizing language like never before. If you’re a minority, a woman, LGBT, illegal, etc. you best not use hateful language. Heterosexual white Christian men are the only real monsters.

“Off to racial sensitivity classes for you, then a re-education camp! Frankly, Scarlett, I’m off to blow up a dam.”
I worked in an office with many black and hispanic women for many many years (northeast US).
I learned very quickly that speaking to them (or within earshot of them) at all was nothing but trouble.
They could “mishear” what I said and turn it into drama.
Whites in the office who did not learn that lesson did not last long.
What saved me were smoke breaks outside (where real business could get done) and telework.

Sad thing is there is that one scene where the Corleones do decide to get into drugs and they say "No selling to Children but it's OK to sell to....because they are animals anyhow"
So yeah, expect it to be banned

Since I learned that it’s the first thing that comes to mind whenever I hear about Gone with the Wind.

There’s lots of idiots in high places that have no talent. Reference the US government. All the crap going on is going to create racists, not eliminate them. If you’re going to be called one, might as well be one.
