Seeking a city willing to allow a large-scale event amid the coronavirus pandemic, Republicans have tentatively settled on Jacksonville, Fla., as the new destination for the premier festivities of the Republican National Convention in August, according to three Republican officials briefed on the plans.
The details of the arrangement are still in flux and RNC aides are scrambling to determine whether the northern Florida city has enough hotel rooms to accommodate the quadrennial event, which typically kicks off the final stretch of the presidential campaign.
Republican officials were in Jacksonville on Monday looking at the city and the surrounding areas.

The highly unusual decision to seek an alternative location for the conventions marquee events - including speeches by President Trump and others - stems from Trumps desire to accept his partys nomination before an enormous crowd.

LOL! What will the Democrats do now? Will they have a normal convention - to keep up with the Republicans, or hid in their basements and do a zoom convention?

I would love to see it on boats bringing in air craft carriers. The Democrats dont matter . Joe Biden cant lead a convention or coffee house. The Democrats are stuck and just stalling until some poll lights their way.
I don’t think ComDems will have an in person convention. I think they will go virtual and project their candidate arrived at in stealth backroom deals in reality only including party big wigs in the decision. Votes won’t matter, it is the agenda that is important.
Good Choice! As a North Carolinian - am so very glad the Republicans are NOT coming to NC. The loss is on the Demonrat Governor’s head.
Thanks Antifa Beefsteak Nazis and Burn, Loot, & Murder (BLM) Incorporated — your rioting killed the COVID con. Now for huge MAGA/KAG rallies, a giant nominating convention in Trump’s home state, and PDJT’s reelection.
The, as yet, un-named candidate will be projected as a hologram on the side of a burned-out hulk of a building.
ZOOM filters will allow only the faithful and $$$_bunglers to see the pageantry.
WOW..you beat me to it.
Florida,Pennsylvania and Michigan were the best choices. All pivotal swing states.Of course PA and MI have filthy Rat Party Governors who’d never allow it to happen...so Florida is a great choice.
They can dust off their white hoods and wear masks and burn Milwaukee to the ground.Maybe Biden can reenact the Lady Gaga Super Bowl entrance.
I noticed all that too.
The Washington Post, fake news all the time.
Jacksonville is a day's drive for DC/NoVA/ATL Antifart ferals and troublemakers. Too many ways in and out.
Orlando is a more detailed journey and is kind of remarkable in that there's really only one interstate access for those same DC/NoVA/ATL ferals. The ones who fly into MCO, use the facial scan and arrest them on probation violation right on the spot.
If there's so much as even a short rain shower the day Trump wants to speak at TIAA Bank Field the media will be able to scan the empty upper. At Amway that's not a problem, it will be full. Keep in mind both Bobo and Kerry used the old Amway, and Trump would be able to brag that he broke both of their attendance records and the all-time Amway old/new record.
The other thing is, leave nothing back in Charlotte, reneg on that contract and say we'll see you in court. If he's moving the Convention to Jville MOVE EVERYTHING.
I’m there! Sounds fantastic!
Love that icon! I will be bringing the popcorn come election night!
Uh, no, you need to keep you eye on the ball. The effin Marxists thought they could use the pandemic to close down the Republican primary. It's just leftist Orwellian politics as usual.
