It has been a week of controversies at Bon Appétit — and it's only Tuesday.
On Monday, editor-in-chief Adam Rapoport stepped down after a photo of him in brownface resurfaced. A day later, editor Alex Delany has apologized for previously making a cake decorated as the Confederate flag.
A picture of the cake — which was found on Delany's old Tumblr account "The Pantalones" — began circulating around Twitter on Tuesday morning following a tweet by food writer Tammie Teclemariam.
In the original blog post — which was posted on July 24, 2010 — Delany wrote that he had made the cake because his best friend was moving to South Carolina.

The flag on the cake is the “Navy Jack” flown on Confederate ships. It was rectangular. The Confederate battle flag of Northern Virginia was square. The bars and stars flag shown in your pic was the first of, I recall, three Confederate flags during the Civil War.
How do you even fight against something like this?!

I have a “Stars & Bars” flag and have flown it on several occasions. Nobody recognizes it.
I have flown one daily since Nikki Haley kicked of this Taliban like frenzy of history erasing.
I live in VA but was born in Wisconsin of upstate New York parents, my ancestors were in the Union Army.
I love the history here so much I have donated to preserve many battlefields so I take all of this kind of personally.

I’m with you, I love American history. I live in California, but had one great-grandfather (from Virginia) in a Confederate militia and two others who fought for the Union.

Communists use the same tactics everywhere they get sufficient power. At some point the right better start fighting back or were in serious trouble.

The company and YouTube channel will be turned into SJW cause celeb. It was bad enough before but now will be 100x worse. The problem is that there’s no way to effectively defend people or companies against the twitter brigade.
