Rep. Barbara Lee wants to form a racial healing commission to reckon with 400 years of systemic racism

As sustained national protests to end police brutality enter their third week, East Bay Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-Oakland) is pushing for legislation to unpack and address the deep-rooted history of systemic racism in the United States and sustain the Black Lives Matter movement into the future.

Last week, Lee called for the creation of a “Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Commission.” The proposed commission would have a broad advisory goal, asking the United States to address a legacy of oppression beginning 400 years ago with slavery. It would then offer recommendations to catalyze progress in education, health care, employment, Social Security and veteran benefits, land ownership, financial assistance, food security, wages, voting rights, the justice system, and many other tenets of American life distorted by the lasting impacts of racism.

“The murder of George Floyd and the current COVID-19 crisis illustrate once again the painful and dangerous legacy that white supremacy has had in our country, and the desperate need to fully acknowledge and understand how our history of inequality continues today,” Lee said in an announcement last week.

And the “Great Society” program.

Met a Harvard economist who was on the committee to write the blue print for the Great Society.

Very nice and well meaning man but truly believed blacks were inferiors and needed government help. I was floored. It was the soft bigotry of low expectations.

She can do that, if she wants. She can do it in her own little world and economy.

I was thinking more in our country. Other civilizations that had slaves didn’t. But then too, native tribes would raid other tribes for slaves and Chief Selth (Seattle) had some slaves as well.

Well in most of the country there never was slavery, and where there was slavery it grossly hindered economic development as it was not free market, the laborers were not paid wages for their work, and it greatly stifled innovation. That is why the economies of the non-slave states were vastly superior to the slave states.

She can go back to her own party taking power and putting into effect regulations which essentially made black employment illegal - prior to this they were well on their way to economic parity.

The 1619 Project is the brainchild of the New York Times. It may be based on the book but many historians have taken the Times to task for it’s inaccuracies including the idea that the Revolutionary War was fought to protect slavery.

“Systemic racism” exits in only in the minds of those racists promoting “systemic racism” for fun and profit!

And, of course, “systemic racism” also exits in the minds of politicians and pop culture media and entertainment bozos.

No need to name them - we all know who they are!

“Systemic racism” is a multi-billion dollar growth industry!

Just ask “Reverend” Jesse Jackson, or “Reverend” Al Sharpton! Or any other of the thousands of racist pimps promoting the myth of “systemic racism” for fun and profit!

“Reverend” Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition is the model the lesser known race pimps use to shake down businesses and corporations to gain funding for their racist activities!

I have a friend who is here now from SA. It took him to get to a Trump Administration to get his papers in 2018. He says you do not want to be in the country. It’s a mess and the cops are as corrupt as the politicians.

True 3rd World.

Communists like Lee love to set up “commissions”, usually fake crime charging commissions that lead to mass torture and executions. She’s a (late Maurice Bishop, Grenada red dictator) communist fan and also a Castro supporter.

Never met a communist cause she didn’t like or support.
