Top Senate Republicans are urging President Trump to back off a threat to campaign against Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) if she runs for reelection in 2022.
Trump tweeted late last week that he would be campaigning in Alaska in 2022 against Murkowski and would back anyone with a "pulse" after she told reporters that she was "struggling" with whether she could support him in 2020.
But top Senate Republicans indicated on Monday that they don't support efforts to unseat Murkowski, who is one of the Senate GOP caucus's most moderate members.
"I'd leave Lisa alone. She's a member of our conference, and we want to keep it that way," said Sen. John Thune (S.D.), the No. 2 Republican senator.
Asked about Trump's tweet, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), an adviser to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), told reporters, "I dont support that at all."
Murkowski has found herself once again a target for Trump after she told reporters she was struggling with whether she could back Trump, even as she said she would continue to work with him and the administration.

Oh, they didn't like that at all! There aren't too many shaky republicans left so they want to protect them.
Murkowski's an easily manipulatable mush-mind.
Like Pat Roberts and Lamar Alexander, she will likely decline to run for another term.
And then, mission accomplished!

Why arent the same senators outraged at Murkowskis unwillingness to support the president versus Joe Biden?
And same with mitt Romney?

Got a call from the GOP yesterday for fundraising, she drones on too much and I finally hang up. But I want to tell them I only give to President Trump, I refuse to support the never Trumper GOP.

This scumbag bitch cheated the last time to get re-elected. She was beaten in the pubbie primary, so she ran as an independent and the demonRATs and the rinos voted her across the finish line.
She is a pompous, corrupt, lifetime swamp dweller and is evil.

Yet the NRSC is aggressively going after a Doug Collins in GA against a woman just has never received a single vote in her life.
They want to protect MITCHs girls.

Cornyn and Thule. No surprises there. Surprised Corker, Toomey, Portman — and especially Mitt (R)Money — haven’t chimed in.

Murkowski only wins due to crossover democrat votes anyway, she even lost the Republican primary and won due to democrat crossovers. Alaska democrats understand that Alaska is too red to ever elect a true blue liberal, but they also realize Murkowski is about 80% that anyway. So they are more than happy to abandon their own democrat candidate every election to ensure she gets reelected.

GOP senators urge Trump to back off Murkowski threat If you're not for Trump then you're against him. And if you're against him then he's coming after you. That will never change.
