...While thousands of people have taken to the street to protest, Kennedy Mitchum, who recently graduated with a degree in law, politics and society, took to email.
She said it all started when people would argue with her about the definition of racism and she realized the problem was in the pages of Merriam Websters dictionary...

Pathetic.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary has deteriorated over time. The Second Edition Unabridged was the best American dictionary ever made.
So she wants to make excuses for people who are racist against white people by changing the definition to systemic racism.
And shes a lawyer.
What is the definition now? Any Republican that wins an argument against a Democrat?
Doesn’t matter. There isn’t a definition of ‘racism’ that doesn’t include/infer whitey bad.
i am feeling systematically oppressed by the current culture that seems to be requiring me to bend my knee!
i know, ... it’s racism!
lol
I misread the title and saw fluorescent and tinker bell was now a victim of racism.
I am glad that I bought my Merriam-Webster Unabridged dictionary 20 years or more ago.
I can’t recall which edition it is.
So when you say that racism is "systemic," which "system" specifically are you referring to.
This entire compliant that "the system is racist" is akin to a child saying "life is unfair" simply because things aren't going his way.
Do people who are complaining about systemic racism want that problem to be fixed or is it a general "floating" complaint about life. If they want it to be fixed, they have to offer specific solutions to address carefully defined problems.
At the bottom line, it seems that the complaint--"systemic racism"--is an emotional one. For it to be addressed, that emotional complaint must be redefined as a logical, rational problem with logical, rational steps that can be taken to fix is.
The "defund the police" idea is very much like a child's "I don't want Daddy to discipline me anymore." And that brings us to the notion that this complaint doesn't really seek an answer.
It is a purely emotional response which seeks vague emotional redress (in other words, it is a complaint that CANNOT be fixed).
Still operating in a caffeine deficiency.;-)
Manipulating a dictionary entry to redefine and weaponize a term to increase your entitlement is obviously wrong. Shame on Webster. They are part of the problem.
“And shes a lawyer.”
That could be the problem.
I guess if you cant change a law, change the letter of the language.
When they say bend the knee, they mean bow and submit just like Islam politically demands.
‘Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed, will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. Already, in the Eleventh Edition, we’re not far from that point. But the process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there’s no reason or excuse for committing thoughtcrime. It’s merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won’t be any need even for that. The Revolution will be complete when the language is perfect. Newspeak is Ingsoc and Ingsoc is Newspeak,’ he added with a sort of mystical satisfaction. ‘Has it ever occurred to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?’
An American bends his knee to no Earthly king or potentate.
