County Sheriff in most states have higher authority than the local city police. The country would have to take over and hopefully these moronic elected officials understand that taking funding from city police means giving the same funding to the county police.
We don need no stinkin badges! We should have sent social workers in to deal with the protests. Hummm. We could probably replace the military too!
I am of the opinion that SWAT teams need to answer to the Sheriff who is elected. Team members are required to undergo regular medical checkups including testing for drugs and steroids.
Further, a “no knock” raid should only be permitted when requested by the Sheriff’s office (SWAT) and signed off by an elected local judge who finds that 1) there is sufficient probable cause that there exists a risk to the loss of life of a citizen and 2) that such a raid can not be accomplished by other means; to justify the use of lethal force.
