Brothers and Sisters, Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during my cardiac arrest. It is amazing how many you know and love when you have a miracle like this. Last Monday morning on Memorial day my wife woke up from the couch to hear me making a death moan. She is a retired nurse who is never rattled or shaken from no matter what the situration. She is now known as Saint Marilyn.
She imediately called 911 even though our cell phones were dead and knew you can call 911 from a dead phone especially when she had a dead husband. There was no pulse and was cold and clammy even though she got there about 5 mins after my heart shut down. If she had slept in the bedroom rather than in front of the TV I would not be writing this letter.
She pleaded with the 911 operator while she was giving CPR but held in there until the Fire Dept arrived with a dozen other cops and parameds. They moved me to our living room and began CPR stating there was no heartbeat, pulse or electrical pulse. I was flatlined and they worked on me for around 20 minutes until the second charge restarted my heart.
They then took me to Maridian Park where I went to the ICU and they began stablizing me until 8 PM that night when I went flatline again. Again they had to restart CPR, defibulate and restarted my heart after what they said was a long time. It was so bad on this one they did the unthinkable with Corona which was calling my wife to come back down and say goodbye. That is the only way spouses are allowed into the Hospital with the virus. Everyone working on me thought I would not make it let alone not becoming a vegetible.
My neighbor Walt put me on his churchs prayer chain of over a hundred people at his church and our circle of friends of which a number of you were on. I believe I was also on the Athey Creek prayer chain and found I was on one in Texas with one of my customers. I really felt the prayers and was humbled with the number who were praying for my health in this heart attack.
No, I did not see the golden stairs or the bright light or the guy with the horns and tail, only a comfort knowing that if I did die I would be going home to Jesus.
Two days later I was laughing and joking with the doctors and nurses as my strength grew stronger and stronger. There was no damage to the heart and minimal issues with the scrambling of the brain. It seems to be pretty much back to normal and just enjoying the pain I received fro the during the heart message with bruised or broken ribs.
It turns out I have Sudden Death syndrome which the electrical system just stops. The heart and valves are in great shape it is just there is a genetic defect that the heart stops beating which can be a problem. They have installed a pacemaker with a defibulator in case it does it again.
The entire event was a miracle from God since surviving this severe of attack has a less than 10% survival rate. To not have any damage let alone living through this is simply the Grace of God. Many have said Jesus is not finished with me yet and I truly believe this and received a card from a longtime friend who has accepted Jesus as his savior this year, Praise God.
The fields are full and harvest is ripe for the lost. I can now share a miracle story and give all the glory to God. Not many have survived death let alone twice and lived to tell about his mercy.
Everyone has been asking and hope this helps answer your questions, Thank you so much for your prayers since I truly believe they are why I survived as well as allowing me to share in the hospital.
Thank You bray
Yikes!
Enjoy Life 3X!

Sorry for the double post! System running slow!
God is good. Your Spouse is a Godsend. Glad you lived to tell the tale.
Geez, welcome back brother!
I’m also married to an incredible woman who is also a great retired RN.
A few months before I had a stent put in (2+ years ago). I would catch her looking at me with the combo RN/great wife look.
Sometimes, she checked my pulse and asked how I felt.
When I finally qualified for a stent, they told her to go have lunch/coffee on the house at the cafeteria. We said “See you laters!” after they had me on the table getting me ready for the stent.
Due to a series events beyond our control, I had ended up with the top guy, who teaches and monitors the other stent docs. He is normally the 2+ stent installer.
After I was hooked up, he popped a little Versed in. The stent was installed, and I was on the way back to the recovery room. A nurse went down to the cafeteria where my wife had just sat down with a coffee , and they told her I was fine and in recovery.
She followed them back and I was having a chicken sandwich which I shared with her. In the meantime her Nurse part had taken over, and she was looking at the monitors, me and taking my pulse. I asked her how I was doing, and she said great.
They sent me home with her in about 2 hours.
We are both blessed and lucky!
