No, a cop next to the one who shoved the guy stopped and ran back to help the man and the cop who had shoved him then pushed the other cop away and said no, no. It was only when the shover had moved a few feet ahead that the other cops could get to the guy on the ground.
Im not justifying the elderly peacenik, who was stupid, but again it was a situation where one dominant and perhaps too aggressive cop intimidated the others.
I don’t think we know what happened, until we hear what words were exchanged.
Think of yourself in a policeman’s shoes - you’re in a highly charged situation, someone comes at you saying who-knows-what, and then reaches out as if to grab, poke - whatever.
These guys have seen their brethren injured and even killed in recent days.
The armchair prosecutors and judges here should wait until they have all of the evidence.
“...it was only when the shover had moved a few feet ahead that the other cops could get to the guy on the ground.”
But you said previously...
... the cop who shoved him wouldnt let anybody else stop to help him...
So someone did stop to help the old man...within seconds. The “helpers” were able to help the man because they were behind a line of safety formed BY THE “SHOVER” AND THE OTHER COPS that didn’t stop.
it was a situation where one dominant and perhaps too aggressive cop intimidated the others.

I’m glad you have rendered that judgment so I and everyone else who watched the altercation and got it wrong now stand corrected!
