President Trump's surprise walk to St. John's Church Monday night was condemned by Democratic leaders and clergy in Washington, but praised by his most prominent evangelical supporter.
Evangelist Franklin Graham was asked how he felt after the Episcopal Bishop of Washington, the Right Rev. Mariann Budde, accused the president of using the Bible and "one of the churches of my diocese, without permission, as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus."
The son of the late Rev. Billy Graham said he was encouraged, not offended, by the president holding up a Bible.

Since when do you need to seek permission from a bishop to visit a Christian church? The church isn’t “hers” - the church is the handmaiden of God.
Did the mob who tried to burn the church down the other day “seek her permission”? Does she have anything at all to say about that? But I guess burning churches is de riguerre nowadays, if you have the correct political pedigree.

The absurdity of clerics pretending to be offended by our President’s religious commitments tells us a great deal. May a just God, in Blessing Donald Trump’s service to God and country, also deal appropriately with these shameful hypocrites.
