A special prosecutor for the state of Georgia said Thursday that evidence in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery shows the young black man was repeatedly boxed in by two pickup trucks as he desperately tried to escape. The lead Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent in the case also testified that the gunman said a racial slur as Arbery lay dying.
Agent Richard Dial testified that the white driver of the first pickup, Travis McMichael, finally got out and shot Arbery in the chest, the first of three shots with a pump-action shotgun that sent Arbery staggering and falling onto the road, mortally wounded.

For all those who were wondering why Bryan was charged:

Is this the guy that took the exculpatory video?
Bull. Crap. Besides, the young black man wasn’t boxed in. You can see him run around the front of the truck where he could have just kept running. Instead, he attacked McMichael and tried to get his gun.
He is the guy that shot the video and who is now in jail and is being quite talkative.
Can’t let the hate die down. Have to push something new now that the cops in George’s case have all been charged.
I figure they would do that.
Given the struggle, the shotgun was most likely a semi-auto for three shots. I doubt the guy with the shotgun could have racked a pump while someone was trying to take it away.

Bryan was arrested so that he would talk, and will be a witness for the People at the trial.

Did this agent see the same video that the rest of the world has?
His testimony directly contradicts the video evidence and will be impugned.
The video shows from the start of the encounter Arbery running up to and then across the front of the truck, while Travis stands with shotgun held below waist level in both hands in a decidedly non- threatening manner, as Arbery charges and grapples with Travis, the ensuing struggle results in Travis firing or the shotgun being discharged by mutual combat ( try it, with a cleared shotgun- fighting for control and manual strength and effort involved- well proven fact that is decidedly NOT indicative of intentional discharge, or at least it works for cops in a struggle over their weapon) resulting in wounds, fatal or not.
Note, I do not discuss the events leading up to the final scene, as those were not captured on video in their entirety and therefore are left to testimony and more forensic/investigative effort to determine the middle parts of the incident.
I pray justice will be served, whatever the flavor.
If he called him the N word, I don't understand how it's a racial slur, since according to Whoopi Goldberg, it's considered a "term of endearment." McMichael was just sending him off with some tender words of comfort.
Easy to actuate the pump- its a natural major muscle movement, the average pump action unlocks the bolt once fired, so minimal effort is needed to accomplish a reload, making the pump action almost as fast ( some say faster) than a semi-auto.
This is to set up the hate crime charges.
Exactly. They cooked up the false imprisonment charge so they could also include him in the felony murder charge as well. If the McMichaels' attorney isn't talking plea bargain with the prosecution now they had better start.
Georgia doesn't have a hate crime law.
