My response to Drew Brees: as an older American, who used to say the "Pledge of Allegiance" every single morning of school. Who served his country in the Navy during the time of war, and as an American who gave an oath to the Constitution of the United States of America many times, I am appalled that Brees felt it necessary to reverse his firm beliefs. I was one of those who were spat on in airports and bus stations while in uniform. I also was cursed at and disparaged in every way. I always cited the Pledge of Allegiance as I walked through these hallways of disrespect and remembered why I was there, in uniform. Drew Brees reversed himself because he felt like his millions of dollars that he earns with his teammates might be in jeopardy if he is not considered "part of the team". But Drew Brees is a team member of a much larger team - the UNITED States of America. We have had TONS of Diversity training. I think that we have had enough. This country has all of the diversity that it can stand. What we need is UNITY Training. We can start by remembering the Pledge of Allegiance: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Several salient points need to be remembered when citing this code. Number one - We are ONE Nation. We are not 50 independent nations, like Europe. We were formed in a Union of diverse cultures, with the idea that we are unified in our belief that if we stand together in the pursuit of Liberty and Justice, we will survive anything. There are many who want to destroy the Republic, and replace with a totalitarian system that has never worked. The second principle was added in 1954 by the US Congress at the insistence President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was concerned by the intrusion of communism. He added "One Nation, under God". Well that same communism, anarchy, and dissension is pounding on the door again. He added it because he believed what I believe: People come and go in this world, but the only thing that never changes is God. He also felt that we can only survive with God's help, so he included that in the Pledge to remind us of that. In these trouble times, the ONLY thing that will save us is God. The third point is that we ARE indivisible. But are we? Only if we resolve ourselves to be indivisible will we remain so. The fourth point was that we strive for Liberty and Justice for All. Surely there is no "Black Justice". Nor is there "White Justice". There is only Justice as our goal, and with that, the liberty that is rewarded with it. Instead of our citizens banding into their different zones of interest, they should remember the words and spirit of the Pledge of Allegiance, and stand tall in front of it. Pledging not to a piece of cloth that represents our values, but the values themselves. We cannot rely on the corrupt media to clarify our moral principles. We cannot rely on "Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or any of the other social media to define us. Therefore, I think we MUST return to the values that made us the greatest country on earth. Peace, Liberty, and Justice for all!

"Bullying DOES work."
Well in Drew's defense, he knows that without his (mostly) black offensive line he would be a cripple.

Say this for Colin Kaepernick - he’s never backed down from his position. Drew Brees apologizes in one day. I wish we had someone who championed respect for the American flag as strongly as Kaepernick champions kneeling and disrespect in his incoherent way.

In America 2020? Never. A nation of sellouts just partying till they get herded into the abattoir.

Brees is a good man, but now a considerable disappointment. You don’t apologize when you’ve done no wrong.

My response to Drew Brees is as an older American, raised in Detroit suburbs when the Great Society was implemented. As a teen our church’s youth group interacted with a nearby African Methodist Episcopal church in neighboring town. We invited them to a swim party. There, I found myself in the position of noticing a blurry form (no glasses on) at the bottom of the pool. Intuition kicked in, and I hollered ‘drowning’ as I dove in. Sure enough, one of our visitors was at the bottom of the pool, and just as I pulled him from the bottom a bigger kid arrived to pull him up to the top. That’s the America I grew up in.
Why doesnt BLM address the Real American reason for the state of bigotry among races in the United States - the natural law that people TRUST people who look more like them than not; aka, Birds of a Feather Flock Together. Intelligence is the reason our civilization has advanced to this point, and has provided all the things we are envious to possess - Arts, Sciences, Economics. Just as it was mans brain that got him out of trees and off the African plains, it is American brains that have provided for us so well, aka, Yankee ingenuity was a common phrase in my household when growing up. What BLM misses is the degree of bullying at school against black kids trying to learn ... to be like white bread or Crackers. This is reinforced in some of these kids homes by their parents, who discourage studying because its a hopeless waste of time - yo aint gonna get nowhere, guaranteeing the continuation of a lifetime of indentured servitude by their own making. When BLM is smart enough to realize this, meaningful changes might occur. Until then its a waste of ink and time considering the issue. So if there is some benefit for some segment of humanity to dumb themselves down to avoid conflict with an uneducated and foolish segment of humanity, Id like to hear it. Otherwise, you wont see me taking the knee to honor stupidity. That would be insanity.

Definitely. The fact he has to pander to the people with such warped views is truly pathetic. Of course I am sure he can handle it all the way to the bank.

Then Brees should have just quit. He’s got enough money.

It’s the national anthem that started all this. Government. Congress mandated it be played b4 all sporting events to get people to take their minds off the great depression. A distraction. Now the chickens have come home to roost.
