On Monday, President Trump threatened to deploy the United States military to American cities to quell a rise of violent protests, but Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan says that’s unconstitutional and illegal.
Trump said he would mobilize “thousands and thousands” of soldiers to keep the peace if governors did not use the National Guard to shut down the protests
Durkan tweeted a long statement shortly after the president’s promise:
"The president’s threat to force U.S. military troops on local jurisdictions is unconstitutional and illegal, and shows a shocking lack of understanding about the use and work of our U.S. military.
The Posse Comitatus Act specifically prohibits this type of executive overreach and the mobilization of the military against the American public.
We are a nation of laws and fundamental constitutional guarantees, and one of the most important is the right of every American to assemble, peacefully protest, and to free speech which is what we have overwhelmingly seen across the country.
We welcomed the National Guard over the weekend who have helped in unarmed duties with support and logistics as we deal with the effects of civil unrest and the bad actions of a few. But let me be clear: no U.S. Military troops are needed nor will they act as police in Seattle."

When all business has fled, they will come begging the Federal Government for bailouts & loans. And I will ask my Congress Critters to not approve a single on and ask my President not to sign any such law into existence, unless they want to abolish abortion, reinstate all gun rights, etc. Which won’t happen, so they will not get bailed out. That’s my view...

You, as an attorney and former US prosecutor are shockingly misinformed. But that is not new. You have violated the States Public Disclosure laws because you thought you knew better, but the courts caught you.
Go to Wikepedia and look up Insurrection Act. You will see in the second and third paragraphs that the President can send military troops to an areas where insurrection is happening with or without local government approval.
I personally, like the idea of the Insurrection Act being triggered because it sets up very long prison sentences for looters and rioters. Local jurisdictions are too soft on crime and would allow the offenses to be plea bargained down to time served in a holding cell.
Yep.. and...we are already in a state of National Emergency.. which grants a whole additional set of powers that don’t normally apply.

I want Philadelphia resolved ASAP. That’s my local city and if the local government doesn’t give a #%#$ then bring on the feds to kick it back into order.
I agree, looters and arsonists need to be shot on sight, but preferably by NG troops. Yes, I agree. It can’t go more than a day without Federal Troops.
