Just in ... 82nd to be deployed to DC tonight. This is more than MPs. A family member of mine will be on the line.
Correct. I don't think it is meant to be a secret. A show of force will send these thugs packing. We really do not want a lot of killing on our streets. The consequences are unknown.
Find a very old German and ask him what the 82nd can do! ;)
I was deployed to DC in 1969 with the 82d during Anti-War riots. We initially went to Bolling AFB and then to the Pentagon and then to the Justice Department Building. Paratroopers in starched fatigues, helmets, and fixed bayonets had an amazing effect on the crowd, who quickly decided that they had something else to do that night. As a Platoon Leader, I was armed with a Trench Shotgun with a M1918 bayonet attached to reinforce the line of Troopers. That bayonet was 18 inches long.
Good to know.
Ask the nazis...
Even still if the President determines that local governments cannot protect the public he can do what Bush did in 1992 with the LA Riots.
was it as bad as it is now with all this crazy looting etc
Yes DC has National Guard
Possibly they will be involved in support
I assume the feds have designated a detainment area to process large numbers of detainees
This is what I hoping.
The probably WILL turn them over. But does anyone remember NDAA? Military now has legal ability to arrest and detain terrorists in the USA and send to Gitmo.
The DC mayor is being criminally negligent with the protest at Layfette Park. Ive been in DC my whole life and many times to protests at the same park. Ive seen more fencing and security at a DC dog park then the park. This mayor and chief of police have no fencing or barriers. The mayor isnt serious given the Trump tour of the park I just saw. She obviously has an agenda and any native Washingtonian can see it. I hope the military find her and lock her up.
If you don’t land right, sure it’s hard on the knees. As far as the rest, I’m not advocating that they do—I can come up with lots of reasons why they shouldn’t—just that it’d look pretty damn cool if they did.
Any looters in DC will be like a fish in a barrel

Oh my God. Its not even curfew yet and law enforcement (who are stationed in a square around the White House) have started clearing peaceful protesters with flash bangs and tear gas. #dcprotest
All American...
Rounded up and brought to gitmo with no contact to the outside world and thier families for a while, watch the snowflakes cry for mommy
I was an 82nd Airborne trooper long ago. Just my opinion, the streets of the US are not a place to deploy them. They are a large , well trained group to kill, capture and destroy . Not to be unleashed with their hands tied. If they are deployed, it would not surprise me they will be told to leave their MG’s, anti- tank weapons, AND rifles back home in Bragg. Not a good idea.
No, but they can shoot 'em...
Interesting
Maybe Bolling would make a good detainment area to process rioters
Out of the city, over the river controlled access
Still has hangars?
