Parents in several states nationwide are "shocked" to find they can't withdraw their children from public school, the largest U.S. legal organization for homeschool families told Fox News.
Coronavirus restrictions hit public schools especially hard and, with no clear end in sight, the loss of students only adds to the already vulnerable loss in funds.
A RealClear Opinion Research survey shows that 40 percent of families are more likely to homeschool when lockdown restrictions lift, a significant increase from the 2.5 million parents who were educating their kids at home before stay-at-home orders were put in place.

Withdraw them anyway.
Dare them to do anything about it.

It’s the end of the school year, so anyone who intends not to attend the same school next year is an a good position simply to establish a new form of education before the next year begins. I don’t really see the utility of withdrawing from one’s current school in the context of the “Where did it go?” 2019-2020 year.
The Government Indoctrination Camps called public schools claim ownership of the students.
The students’ parents are viewed as peripheral addons.
All good people need to send their daughters and sons to private schools or homeschool them.
That should be “withOUT protection from HSLDA ...”
“...The leftist indoctrination centers are in an absolute panic over the possibility of losing their propaganda targets. Ill expect much more crap like this in the days and weeks to come....”
Yep. It was one of those “unintended consequences” on the planned virus release. Small neighborhood groups could ban together to form group home schools leaving the “indoctrination centers” to contend with their mess.
Check out HSLDA before you start homeschooling. They are very worth the membership.
We were with them for 13 years while homeschooling.
Im completely with you, but I can predict what they will TRY to do.
Expect state-level legislation tightening the reporting requirements for homeschooling to a point that many throw up their hands and capitulate to the government edicts. Many of the most leftist states will mandate homeschoolers teach specific leftist dogma in order to be compliant with the law. State examiners will be assigned to grill your children, out of earshot of parents, about what they are being taught and NOT being taught. Remedial educators will be assigned if they think your education is too Christian and non-inclusive.
If you refuse, you risk having your children taken from you. This will be included in the legislation they will craft.
Serves the Lib teachers and Unions right!!!
Even worse, in many cases parents are viewed by indoctrination centers as their childrens enemies.

exactly
That would be an excellent idea.
If they mandate leftist indoctrination, you can teach it, teach that it IS indoctrination, and help them understand how it’s faulty. They need that anyway.
Join HSLDA and then since many states say homeschooling has to be from an accredited place, get your work from ABEKA...all the books and tests are shipped to parents and ABEKA even issues report cards
Great info. Thanks.
THIS!!!!!
So many kids have dropped off the radar which will invite much CPS home visits. Parents should opt out now.
I have a friend who is 37 and has 5 kids, all homeschooled. His wife is the primary teacher. I forget the name of the curriculum they are using but it covers first through 12th grade.
He tells me they spend about three to fours hours a day in school. I asked him about the difference between the time they spend and the six to seven hours in public school. He explained that the public schools ‘waste’ a lot of time with morning announcements, disciplining students, etc. That’s time they don’t have to spend with their kids.
There’s also what he calls ‘pass down’ where a kid learning on a sixth grade level hears his mother teaching his sister on a seventh grade level. When the sixth grader moves on to seventh grade, he already has some knowledge of what he’s going to learn. More time saved.
He has a daughter who is very bright, learns quickly and finished 12th grade almost two years early. She plans to start college this fall. She applied to and was accepted by five colleges and universities.
He’s rightly proud of his kids. All are sharp as a tack.
