Shocking new surveillance video appears to show George Floyd in a violent struggle with Minneapolis police before his death.
Floyd can't be seen in the footage, but one cop can be seen leaning through the back door and visibly struggling with him.
The clip was posted by activist Shaun King, who wrote: 'BREAKING: Just got this new video. Its all coming together. Police were in the car beating the sh** out of George Floyd. One stands watch, while the others attacked him.'
Later, white officer Derek Chauvin was captured on video by a bystander kneeling on Floyd's neck as he begged for air.
Floyd, 46, fell unconscious and died, and Chauvin, 44, has since been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, which are filed in cases of unintentional death.
Chauvin also was accused of ignoring another officer who expressed concerns about Floyd, a black man, as he lay handcuffed on the ground.

I've studied martial arts for over 40 years. We learn many techniques that have a goal of "compliance". When we hit that point, we can then back off ever so slightly but maintain the hold so that if the training partner tries to escape, we can immediately apply just a little pressure and they instantly become very "compliant" again. We can hold them that way for hours if needed, safely under our control.
I have no idea what this cop did or what his intentions were, but you'll never know by watching a video.
I hate bad cops as much as anyone, but right now this guy is an unknown based on my personal MA training.
Maybe the medical examiner can determine if loss of blood flow to the brain was the cause of death. I'll wait for the results before judging.
Thats fine. The cops still have to be held accountable for murder because if you had done what they did all four of those cops would want you prosecuted for murder.
No, you’d be dead because the responding officers would have filled you with lead.
“The knee technique is taught by the MPD.”
I will revise my Comments if you can provide a source
Right...In San Antonio I saw a skinny lit mexican hi on PCP trash 4 big Bexar County Popo’s and that was pre Miranda. This guy was 6’7”. As I said before, Let’s wait for ALL the facts.
“The knee technique is taught by the MPD.”
But “no police academy that we know of teaches a police officer to use their knee, to put it on their neck,” said Chuck Wexler, executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, which researches and advises on police practices. “That’s just not taught because that can impact their breathing and their carotid artery (a crucial vessel that supplies blood to the brain). So when police look at that video, they are shocked that those tactics were used.”

True. If cops came across someone kneeling on another person’s neck they’d very likely open fire.
But it’s okay when they do it.
Interesting. I didn’t know the knee on the neck is a MA technique.
> The knee technique is an unauthorized form of the sleeper hold. <
For the sake of argument, lets say it was. Even so, there has got to be some limit to applying it. And the cop must have been trained in that regard. At some point, you must assess the situation, and if appropriate release the hold.
It seems pretty obvious to me that the cop went past that limit, seeing as Floyd was more than just unconscious. He was dead.
Could Floyds health or drug use been a big factor here? Well, sure. But I would expect a trained police officer to be cognizant of those possibilities, and be even more observant of his prisoner.
What we do know is the officer applied pressure on a neck for over 8 minutes. Never letting up the pressure. Even after pleas from the suspect
that he could not breathe. So, I know about as much as you seem to know.
“The knee technique is taught by the MPD”
Tom Aveni, an ex-cop and co-founder of the Police Policy Studies Council, has trained law enforcement officers since 1983. “I have not seen anyone teach the use of a knee to the neck,” he said.
The Minnesota Professional Peace Officer Education System said in a statement Wednesday that the tactics seen in the video “do not appear to reflect the training that students receive.”
We only need to revisit the Waco biker threads to know that your credibility is in the toilet. Nothing you asserted and assured us about that was right. NOTHING.
He may have told the officers he could not breathe while he was standing up. but I also heard him say the same thing when he was on the ground too. Which is the reason for my comments. As opposite as they may be from
many here.
Exhibit A. Mesa PD hotel shooting, January 2019.

The commander's bellicose, hysterical shouting at an unarmed prone suspect as if he were armed & brandishing. Shaver is compliant and face down, but warned he would be shot if he made the slightest mistake. And then they shot him.
“it does not cut off the blood to both carotid arteries, which is necessary for an effective sleeper hold. “
Knee on one side, pavement on the other. Without releasing pressure dude dies.

Would you Keep the hold after the guy goes limp, voids his bladder and told he has no pulse?

Why, because my opinion is different than yours on this specific topic.
Name call all you want. Does not phase me a bit. But it is against the
rules here.
Did you see Floyd do anything?
No. Nobody did. This isn’t proof of anything. What we he doing that defines resting in the photos? A cop reaching into the back seat.
FReepers so very badly trying & convicting a dead man; whom no one saw resist arrest.

You keep trolling that but can never cite an example. Put up or STFU!
