Shocking new surveillance video appears to show George Floyd in a violent struggle with Minneapolis police before his death.
Floyd can't be seen in the footage, but one cop can be seen leaning through the back door and visibly struggling with him.
The clip was posted by activist Shaun King, who wrote: 'BREAKING: Just got this new video. Its all coming together. Police were in the car beating the sh** out of George Floyd. One stands watch, while the others attacked him.'
Later, white officer Derek Chauvin was captured on video by a bystander kneeling on Floyd's neck as he begged for air.
Floyd, 46, fell unconscious and died, and Chauvin, 44, has since been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, which are filed in cases of unintentional death.
Chauvin also was accused of ignoring another officer who expressed concerns about Floyd, a black man, as he lay handcuffed on the ground.

Probably quite a few.
This case is special, because of the intense political pressure to convict the police before the evidence was in.
Probably.
“How was the officer to know what we know now, in hindsight?”
I see you did not include my references to no pulse, going limp and voiding his bladder.
To your sequence of events, I have one you might want to add at the very beginning. George was sitting in his car in the drivers seat...not going anywhere. Was he feeling ill even then? Inquiring minds would want to know.

Why dont you wait for more evidence before deciding guilt or innocence based on the few minutes of video weve been allowed to see by the media? Or dont you remember Trayvon Martin or Michael Brown? The verdict didnt go the way the media wanted it to because it was based on evidence. Youre being played again here, but you obviously dont GAF.
All I have seen is the ME says is the circumstance of his being restrained by police likely contributed to his death.
It singled out the fact that Chauvin had his knee on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. It said such restraint was "inherently dangerous." That is the obviously the restraint that the ME was referring to, but even if it wasn't the ME said police restraint was a contributing factor. Something they did triggered the underlying health issues and killed him. Police were responsible.
But, as another poster noted, you cannot tell how much pressure is being applied by the video.
Since I don't see the officer supporting himself in any way then I think it's safe to assume he had his full weight on Floyd's neck.
” They were restraining him for the almost 9 minutes it took for the ambulance to arrive.”
Why did they have to restrain him after his heart stopped and he voided his bladder?
” The restraint he was using was also approved by the MPD. “
You are so wrong.
Your opinion.
The knee technique is taught by the MPD. It is not taught as a sleeper hold, and for good reason: it does not cut off the blood to both carotid arteries, which is necessary for an effective sleeper hold.
It takes very little pressure to restrain a man with the knee technique.
If blood is cut off with a sleeper hold, people go unconscious in about 30 seconds. When you see Floyd is conscious for the first 7 minutes of the technique, it is obvious it is not cutting off the blood supply, at least not effectively.
The technique is designed to keep the suspect restrained with minimal effort, not to cut off the blood supply.
Floyd's family is demanding the same.
I read a thread today that indicated the knee on the neck is a policy with the Minneapolis police department for certain scenarios. Thus, I am not sure if it is unauthorized.

Why don’t you address my post instead of attacking me?
Now even if Floyd put up a fight getting into the car, could it have risen to a level to apply questionable force long after the man is unconscious? To keep it applied after an off duty first responder begged for at least a pulse check?
It would be standard policy to pull Floyd out. The police could not secure him in the back while he was so vigorously resisting. Remember Freddie Grey?
How many time did Floyd go limp during this entire fiasco? How many times did the police have to restrain him again?
We do not know.
We know it was more than once.

Did the poster stay in a Holiday Inn?
This case is special because there is video evidence of the officer's "depraved indifference" by ignoring Floyd's complaint that he couldn't breath and showing him performing an "inherently dangerous" act by kneeling on Floyd's neck. That's all that third degree murder needs in Minnesota.
That’s fine. The cops still have to be held accountable for murder because if you had done what they did all four of those cops would want you prosecuted for murder.
Yes, I “know for a fact.” There is no dispute these cops were working over a handcuffed and unconscious prisoner who died. Supporting these dirty cops is a fools errand and a political kamikaze mission.
Lots of people who comply with police orders get killed anyway. Compliance is no guarantee of your safety when they decide they want to kill you.

The sleeper hold is not authorized on a constrained person not actively resisting arrest.
The sleeper hold is authorized using arms or legs. Knees should be used on shoulders.
The sleeper hold must be released immediately when person becomes nonresponsive and medical attention started.

Must be the handcuffed prisoner with no pulse scenario. Good luck explaining that one in court to a jury.
